I figured out what the problem.

Once again I restored my pc and reinstalled BF2 deluxe edition. It still does not work. I paid money that I worked hard for and spent it on a game that does not work and I get "support" from people that read off a scripted pc screen from India. This is a bad way to try to run a company. My lawyer has given me some suggestions to which I will be able to be compensated for my investment ( your buggy game ). Currently I have a clean install of your game (haha). I've given you all the specs of my system and have jumped through loops for you to get your software to run. I think it is a great money making plan to put out a hopped up "game" and then it cannot be "played". I've read many many discussions of which your " game " will not run. I've follwed all of your "support group's" directions. I am not concerned that diffrent systems my have conflicts with your " game ". I have a plain vanilla pc and your support staff cannot correct the problem. What do you suggest I do now?

I took my #1 cd to a friends house who already has BF2 installed and he was able to run the game. Any ideas?

Hello,
Recently you called our technical support department for assistance with one of our titles. Now, for the crashing issue with Battlefield 2 with Special Forces Expansion pack, after reviewing the EasyInfo and DxDiag information that you have provided, I've noticed several factors that may cause the error.
To test out the resolution, first, lower it down to 1024x768 -- To do this :
Right-click on the desktop (without selecting any icon) and choose Properties.
Go to "Settings".
On the lower-left portion of that window, lower down the settings to 1024x768.
By the way, does the Original Battlefield 2 load up properly? Since we are mainly troubleshooting Special Forces expansion pack here.
Try to run the program in Window Mode -- To do that, press right-click on the Special Forces Launch Icon and select properties. Now, under Shortcut, on the "Target" -- go all the way to the right-most part of that line (click End if need be) -- you'll notice there's an option "+fullscreen 1" -- switch the 1 to 0 ... this will allow the game to run in window mode. Press Apply then click on Ok.
Next, I've Noticed that you have DLACTRLW.EXE, that's a Sonic DLA program.
The problem you are experiencing can be caused by a piece of software known as Sonic DLA. This software runs checks on any CD’s or DVD’s that are inserted into your PC and can stop the game from reading the disk correctly.
To disable Sonic DLA checking:
Open My Computer
Right click on the CD/DVD drive that has the disk inserted and choose Properties
Click the tab named “DLA”
Remove the check from "Enable DLA on your drives"
Click OK and restart your computer
If this does not resolve the issue or you do not have the option to disable DLA then you should try to contact your computer manufacturer on how to disable it properly.
Also, some of the security settings show in your processes like Symantec Internet Security Suite, Norton Anti-virus, and similar to that runs on the background -- do try and reconfigure this to "Unrestrict" the BF 2 Special Forces executable file to avoid filtering the data as it loads up.
There are other programs, usually associated with your audio like Creative Labs, This may come in conflict with your Sigmatel Sound card, could you confirm with your system manufacturer how the audio card is installed and why you have such drivers?
Currently, we are reviewing this issue and hopefully could come up with a resolution as hastely as possible. We appreciate your patience on the matter -- hopefully, our troubleshooting steps would provide promising results.
Should you require further assistance about this or any Electronic Arts game in the future, please visit our website and review our extensive Self Help Knowledgebase (http://support.ea.com)

Response (Jayson G.) 05/24/2007 06:35 PM
Hello Michael,
I'm sorry to hear that you are still having difficulty with the game. The ccapp.exe is a process belonging to Norton Antivirus and regarding the DLACTRL.exe, I've search the web and was unable to find any information regarding this process. Please try to install the game on another system to test if the conflict is caused by the game. Please also try to contact your system manufacturer to assist you on how to properly update the drivers of your motherboard. Please let us know if the trouble still persists after trying these suggestions.
If you have any other technical questions, feel free to reply to this e-mail and I will be very glad to help you out to the best of my ability. You may also visit our web site and review our extensive Self Help knowledge base (http://support.ea.com).
Thank you,

These programs could NOT be closed in task manager. ccApp.exe and DLACTRL.exe. I am using ATI CATALYST(R)Control center so some of the directions you suggested were a little diffrent. I attached a new DiagDX.txt.
Response (Jayson G.) 05/23/2007 11:46 PM
Hello Michael,
I have read the previous post but it is not clear if you are still trying to install the said mod. Have you tried installing the game on another system?
The key to making sure a game will work on your computer is making sure your computer meets the minimum requirements. This means not only meeting the physical hardware requirements, but the software requirements as well. The software drivers used to operate your video and sound cards must be up to date, and more importantly installed for a game to work properly.
First, let us check if there are other programs that are conflicting with the game. Background applications such as anti-virus programs or even emulation software are often the cause of conflicts.
• Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time
• Click the "Processes" tab.
• Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by user name.
• Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE.
• Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names.
• Click on END PROCESS
• Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile.
Don't worry that you are permanently changing your system configuration; these applications will return when you restart your system.
If you receive a warning for any of these, don't worry it is a standard warning message and is expected. Please click "yes" and continue.
Next, you will need to lower a Hardware Sound Acceleration setting on your computer to "basic". This is to check if your sound card is causing the conflict. To do this, follow these steps:
• Click the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of your Desktop.
• Click on "Run".
• Erase any text already in the run prompt.
• Type in: dxdiag
• Click the OK button.
• Select the sound tab at the top of the tool.
• Set the Hardware Sound Acceleration Slider to "Basic".
• Click "Exit" in the bottom right hand corner.
And sometimes the advanced features of the ATI Radeon series of video chipsets can cause issues with the game you may be experiencing. To disable these features please go over the following:
This issue can be avoided by setting the Wait for Vertical Sync to always off. To do this, follow these steps:
1. Right-Click on your desktop and select “Properties”.
2. Click on the “Settings” tab on the upper right of the display properties box.
3. Click on the “Advanced” button just below color quality.
4. Select the “ATI 3D tab”.
5. Click the “Use custom settings” check box. (Skip to 6 if A check mark is already displayed in the box.)
6. Click the “Custom button”. The ATI 3D Properties window will now displayed.
We will not set the Wait for Vertical Sync is now set to Off:
1. Set the Wait for Vertical Sync: to Always Off, by moving the slider all the way to the left
2. Click, Apply
3. Click, OK.
The Wait for Vertical Sync is now set to Off.
If the trouble continues, repeat these steps 1 – 6 and set Antialiasing and Anisotropic filtering to 2x.
On the ATI 3D Properties page:
1. Uncheck Application Preference for Antialiasing and Anisotropic filtering
2. Set them both to 2x, by moving the slider all the way to the left
3. Click, Apply
4. Click, OK.

Please read the other posts of what i have tried. I am enclosing another DXDIAG.txt. I have reformated and have reinstalled many times.
Response (Jayson G.) 05/23/2007 11:26 PM
Hello Michael,
Thanks for contacting EA Technical Support and for your interest with Battlefield 2!
I'm sorry but we do not support any cheats or mods to any of our games as they can often cause issues that would not occur had these cheats or mods not been implemented. If a mod or cheat has been implemented that caused your game to not function correctly, we recommend you uninstall the game, delete any files you may have added to the game folder or modified and reinstall the game.
If the mod has been removed and the trouble still persist, cold you please send us an updated copy of your system information. Please send me this information from a program called dxdiag.exe. To do this:
• Go to Start -> Run.
• In the box, type the following: dxdiag
• Click "OK"
• Click the "Save All Information" button on the first screen of the application.
• Then on top of the "Save As" box that pops up, select Desktop (if it's not set to save there already), then click Save.
• Finally, attach the dxdiag.txt to your email reply.
After we receive this file we can continue troubleshooting the issues at hand and hopefully come to a solution.
If you have any other technical questions; feel free to reply to this e-mail and I will be very glad to help you out to the best of my ability. You may also visit our web site and review our extensive Self Help knowledge base (http://support.ea.com).

Hi,
Thank you for writing us back. Before playing the game, please try the following steps for there's a possibility that the issue is being caused by a corrupt configuration file.
Go to your My Documents> Battlefield 2 folder. Right Click on the folder and choose Cut.
Close the window.
Right-click on your desktop (or another location you have chosen for the backup) and choose Paste.
From here try running the game (without changing any settings) and see if that resolves the issue. If that fails, try to lower a Hardware Sound Acceleration setting on your computer to "basic" since Lock ups and Crashes can often be sound related. To do this, follow these steps:
· Click the Start button in the bottom left hand corner of your Desktop.
· Click on "Run".
· Erase any text already in the run prompt.
· Type in: dxdiag
· Click the OK button.
· Select the sound tab at the top of the tool.
· Set the Hardware Sound Acceleration Slider to "Basic".
· Click "Exit" in the bottom right hand corner.

Hello,
Thank you for contacting Electronic Arts Technical Support. I'm sorry for the difficulty that you are having with Battlefield 2 Special Forces.
I may need to ask some clarifying questions to better isolate the issue.
Were you able to run the game before without any issue?
Have you recently installed updates, software and hardware updates?
The following steps should allow you to limit possible conflicts.
1. Make sure that you have closed any programs or tasks running in the background as sometimes one of the programs can conflict with the game. Background applications such as anti-virus programs are often the cause of conflicts.
· Hold down the Ctrl, Alt, and Delete keys at the same time
· Click the "Processes" tab.
· Click on the gray bar in the middle column that says User Name to sort by user name.
· Do NOT select anything for SYSTEM, LOCAL SERVICE, or NETWORK SERVICE.
· Click on anything besides EXPLORER and TASKMGR for this User Name or other user names.
· Click on END PROCESS
· Repeat these steps until only explorer.exe and taskmgr.exe are open for this user profile.
2. Try reinstalling DirectX directly from Microsoft's webpage to allow it to update. If your system still doesn't allow DirectX to update, contact your system manufacturer for further assistance in installing DirectX as it is a system program from Microsoft.
Click on the following link to Microsoft's DirectX download site:
www.microsoft.com/windows/directx/downloads
3. Check the game disk for scratches, and test it in another computer. This mainly applies to problems during installation, but can also be an issue during play. CD's and DVD's can be scratched or marked easily, even the smallest scratch can cause greater issue.
4. If the issue persists, I'm going to need additional system information. Please send me this information from a program called dxdiag.exe. To do this:
· Go to Start -> Run.
· In the box, type the following: dxdiag
· Click "OK"
· Click the "Save All Information" button on the first screen of the application.
· Then on top of the "Save As" box that pops up, select Desktop (if it's not set to save there already), then click Save.
· Finally, attach the dxdiag.txt to your email reply.
After we receive this file we can continue troubleshooting the issues at hand and hopefully come to a solution.
Thank you in advance for your cooperation.

I figured out what the problem.
Customer (Michael ) 05/26/2007 12:45 PM

Any ideas?

Same problems. Dell will not help unless I pay for it. I have Battlefield Deluxe. Both will not run . Turned down resolution.Same problems. Tried windowed. same problem. Now what? Oh btw did i mention the the Battlefield 2142 demo works.
Response (Earl C.) 05/25/2007 01:34 PM
Hello,
Recently you called our technical support department for assistance with one of our titles.

4. Click, OK.

Hi,
Thank you for contacting us here at Electronic Arts Technical Support. I'm sorry to hear that you're still having troubles with the game. Unfortunately, the game was not tested using dual core processors so we cannot guarantee that the game will run properly. I know how frustrating this can be but rest assured that I will try my best in able to help you with this.
You may try the following troubleshooting steps and try to see if this will help resolve the issue.
1. Start Windows Task Manager
2. Select the Processes tab
3. Double-click the shortcut for the game in question
4. Find the process entry for the game.
5. Right-click on the process, select affinity and deselect processor.
6. You may also change to the uniprocessor kernel.
Let us know if you need further assistance.

Hi,
Thank you for writing us back.
