ok but i have to go alll the way back to the first bit
well, the game sounds like fun, and it looks cool, I played it, but whenever I want to save my game, it's like playing slots... HOPE the game doesn't CDT.... 90 % of the time it does, and all my progress lost....
DON'T tell me it's my hardware.... QX6700, GF8800GTX, 2G RAM.... Likely it's not that compatible with vista, so anyone got any pointers?

when you get to the duty base, DO walk straight through it and go to the freedom base, DO let the duty guys attacking it get killed, and then DO proceed to rape the entire base yourself. Inside you'll find an armory with a shitload of guns and grenades. I found a few sniper rifles (no modded automatics, real sniper rifles), a t301, an M203, and an attachable scope. On top of that there are some really sweet suits hidden on a chest on top of some cabinets.
um... help the duty and dont let them get killed.. just rape the freedom guys anyway, i got a pile of 100 off bodies in the armour building where i was camping
There is also a bulldog 6 nade launcher in there in one of the cupboards or chestsSargeV1.4 wrote:

yeah but dont sell it, use it for the duty mission after the lab x16 mission
I sold it already
What i'm more interested in is ammo for my sniper rifle. I found 6 bullets on the dead snipers in the camp, but since then I haven't found any more at all.

no you dont get much
I found heaps of sniper ammo, I've got it hoarded in a lockbox in Pripyat ready for when I go to the Chernobyl NPP. Once you get to that area there are heaps of Snipers too, so you can nick ammo off them so you shouldn't run out. A Sniper Rifle is essential when going into the NPP I reckon, makes it a whole lot easier anyway, (my game crashed when I was there, haven't been back yet.) I have an SVD because it's more accurate than that Bullpup model you find around the Freedom camp.
Still haven't finished the game, will do once exams are over.

Is there any way to repair your suits?
Anyone had any crap-your-pants moments yet? I've seen a few videos of it and that's what turned me off. (I don't like crap your pants games, I get scared and I'm not ashamed to admit that)
yes. I played through FEAR and the so-called scary bits were just boring. But in stalker, when you go to the x16/x18 labs after playing without anything like it for 10 hours.. well, that was quite creepy.
I must admit, I hated STALKER. I thought it would be good, but it just.. wasn't! Un-installed.
kyle, stalker gets a lot better after a few hours
there are maybe 2 'crap-your-pants' moments. It's mostly an immersive game, on the same level as oblivion.M.O.A.B wrote:

ok, STALKER is running really slow all of a sudden
old hardware (amd 3000, 1GB ram, etc) 30-50 fps
new hardware: completely smooth even in fights (intel c2d 4300 @ 2.6 ghz, 2GB DDR2, ati x1950PRO) with everything on max
then after a few days - 20-30 fps. I didnt change anything, but it runs like shit
All my other games still get the same framerates.
Suggestions, anyone?

If its slow where you have a large stash then try to spread it out a bit, use several boxes/stashes, sometimes helps. Also try taking some of your old savegames out of the stalker:shoc file in your documents and place them in a new folder on your desktop, this also helps with crashing when loading a saved game.SargeV1.4 wrote:

If all else fails then look at www.gamefaqs.com theres quite a bit of handy info on keeping stalker running sweet there.
The best weapon in my opinion is definately the VSS Vintorez (well in the game I think it's called a Vintar VC)
It's a scoped silenced rifle you get for doing some of the real Duty missions, my gaaawd I kick ass with it!
Inside Chernobyl NPP none of those exo-skeleton freaks ever heard me... Sam Fisher stylee baby.
Oh, I can't find a full list of every single artifact in the game with pictures. As I was exploring the other day and I found two artifacts called "Battery" both had different properties (one against impact, one against radiation) and also both had different pictures.

I meant as in I usually make a stash at the enterance to the Bar area and fill it with every single artifact you can get, just to experiment with them so I can find the best combos.
Though I need to know if I have all the artifacts!
Has anyone found a walkthrough with pictures?

I've competed the game, damn good. Had to play it twice.. The first time i got to the reactor itself, the game bugged and screwed up, couldnt use saves or nothing. So i re-played it. When i got the Vintar sniper rifle i just used that. It's so accurate and kills all soldiers with one headshot, works on close combat and far distance shots. It's good to use leaning in pripyat, and in the reactor itself. Also had a large pistol that killed them with 3 shots:D. I love this game and think i will replay it in summer:). Haven't tried multiplayer though.
