My wife doesn't understand either.  She accuses me of being 'addicted' to BF2.  I guess I am.  I have told her that, at least I"m not off on golfing trips or out drinking at bars or cheating on her, to little effect.  She used to spend nights talking on the phone to her girl friends and didnt' want me around, so I got hooked on '42.  Now she wants me to sit around in front of the TV.  I'm supposed to sit and keep watching if she goes off to answer the phone, so I can 'tell her what happened."    That doesn't happen.  I have decided that, as everything is a balance in a marriage, the joy I get from fragging outweighs the nagging......

Ohmy, I'm not alone I hear.

The thing is I don't understand ;(  is why / how 1 hour gaming results in:

1.   2 hour building at the house.
2.   1 hour making the dish
3.   2-3 hours at the shoppingmal

and all the nagging about the landry, cleaning, dirty windows, broken cars etc.

And I do half of my playing when she working late....

I have only played 0.64h/day, and thats when i sit down by the computer not more then 3 days a week.

I think the major problem is that I've given her too mutch attention the 22 years we've been to gather.
So I must give her the same time to get use to it.................
So when I'm 60 then the realy seriuos gaming starts......

Or what u think???

just an idea...

oh the other thing that works at my house is every hour I am playing is an hour I am not chasing after her for a little romp in the sack.  If Sims 2 doesn't work just start chasing her like a tribal warrior coming to claim your trophy.  put on a loin clothe and start scream "oo--ee--oo--ah-ah  ching-chang-walla-walla-bing-bang

This comes up at my house all the time. I also have been gaming for 20 odd years now (Atari 800XL was my first comouter). Been married 12 years two kids 7 an 9 (9 year old likes to PS2). I usually game after everyone goes to bed so I don't interupt "family time". When I game on the weekends it's usually when everyone is doing thier own thing.

But when it comes up I just say "at least I don't hang out in bars and strip joints throwing away OUR money on beer and broads...unless that's what you would rather me do????"

That's usually enough to quite her down for a few days.

in my expirience there are 3 types of women concerning games:

1. they have absolutly no idea whats it about and think its a waste of time.

2. they see it as a hobby and tolerate it.

3. they game themselfes (wich is my favorite but very rare )

anyway tell her its just like watching TV but not as passiv since u interact with ur PC. and in my opinion TV gets more and more a waste of time.
Whoa, this is almost scary. I'm married, 15 years and going pretty good (I think)

1. It keeps me away from the telly.

2. She understands and thinks it's a 'man thing'.

3. She games, says the games she plays on her pc are 'propper ones', Dynomite, Chuzzle, Jewel quest and something to do with an aquarium.

I even have parents that 'game', Dad in his 70s, Mum in her late 60s, both love it.

Isn't life wonderful

You are going to have to get her to play with you.  I play, MUCH more than my husband. There was a time when we had to take turns, that was no fun so we built a 2nd computer.  We usually play when the kids go to bed at night, during the day I play when the kids are napping or in school.  (which isn't much since they are only 3 and 5 years old)
Do you have a 2nd computer she can play on?   Make a squad, let her follow you around a bit.  I am usually the squad leader of our squad, I like to be in control, it works for us.

#1When im in the Tele room, I mostly watch discovery/History channels. Enough WW2, vietnam etc. documentaries seems todo the trick on those easy nights. Resulting in "Seamus, maybe your mate's are online tonite".

#2Lately, It's been extremely easy as she is 'hooked' on Hurricane Newscasts, and I don't hear a peep from her.

#3 I shower her with gifts whenever possible (just like arty)

#4 "Honey, It's not gaming! It's an historical simulation, I'M LEarning, Dangit!"

#5 If the above dosn't work well, I slip a few valiums in her whiskey. (note:) donot over do this one for when you finish gamin donot expect any action.

#6 If all else fails, I sneak up behind her like a medic with 'shock paddles' on an unaware rooftop sniper, with chloroform on a clean dish rag. (note:) just enough to render her unconcious mind you.

Each of these time prooven techniques will give you hours of what I refer to as::::

"Guilt Free Gaming!" or GFG'n for short.

Do anyone knows how to explain to wife/girlfriend that it's importent (and fun) with gaming.
That a man needs a time (almost) every day for him self and the computer.
Any sugestions ?

Help your friends with smart answers and meningfull frases.. So we can game some more......

Tell her you could be out in bars / clubs with the guys but you prefer to be close to her just spending quality time  with her and enjoying a hobby.  Then talk her into being a medic. This is the part that is giving me trouble.

If she like soap opera's, off set your BF2 time against her soap watching. Plus tell her to STFU.

then get into bed with no clothes on, i'll be up for a shag after my dinner.

then i'm playing bf2 all night.

while you sit quietly in the corner.
