Actually the world is watching the most advanced and powerful military in the world getting its ass torn up trying to fight an unconventional war using conventional force. They're watching millions of dollars of military equipment get totaled by explosive devices incorporating washing machine timers and cell phones. They're watching the US "flex its muscles of power" and realizing that like any other over-muscled bodybuilder it isn't flexible enough to comb its own hair or wipe its own ass without help. This "toughest guy in the bar" shit is getting old and the rest of the world isn't nearly as impressed by it as you think.

The article isn't from a journalist, its quotes from US officials. The propaganda is a daily occurrence, just like the flood of bullshit rolled out to convince the ppl of the US that military action was needed in Iraqi, fictional WMD that can strike European cities?? lol.. Sad that this all points to the ruination of yet another nation. Quite a forward thinking Muslim nation too.

Can the same not be said about the US?

1. The US is in active pursuit of control of the region including Iraq.

2. The US actively support a state terrorist regime in Israel which possesses nuclear weapons (bns of dollars worth of financial and military aid and political assistance at the UN).

When the IAEA enters Dimona on the Negev desert, Palestine is free and sovereign alongside a law abiding state of Israel and the US butts the fuck out of the middle east I may begin to sympathise with you. I don't generally sympathise with overwhelmingly self-serving hypocrite regimes.

So its ok for the USA to pursue control over the middle east? Its wrong that Iran and the USA do this, but at least Iran is Iraqi's neighbour and religious boundaries span both nations. Kennedy nearly started ww3 because the Russians were interfering with a nation on your door step, yet Iran can't be pissed when you piss on theirs and they deserve to be invaded for trying to swing it their way? By that thinking, the US should have been invaded for placing Nukes in Turkey in the 1960s.

Proxy wars are nothing new. However the reason that proxy wars are fought is because neither side really wants to fight each other directly: example US and USSR in Vietnam.  However, Iran may be over playing their hand because the US has no problem going to war directly with Iran.  Here we're not talking about nation building, we are talking about a military operation to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities, their armed forces and their leadership infrastructure.  Beyond that I don't think the US has any interest in occupying.  Plus, with the disaster in Iraq, a quick strike at Iran (like gulf war 1) would do much for the current administration.  Remember, the Iraq War was remarkably successful.  Its the Iraqi occupation which has failed miserably.

Iran is playing with fire.  The US has already failed with the Iraqi Occupation.  They will leave regardless so now is the time to just keep quite.  Why give the US the justification to enter in a war which it wants and needs.

thats news to me.  its the politicians and the people that are "losing" this war.  the military wins the fights.  its you guys painting the pictures of defeat.  sorry skulls,  our military is not getting torn up.  soldiers die in war. soldiers dying in war doesnt mean defeat.

I don't think Iran is going to step up much of anything this Summer, especially forging any ties to the Sunnis. That's rediculous. They HATE each other. The Saudi's would counter it.

Keep in mind the Iranian people are a little irritated with their own government right now. They don't care for high unemployment and increasing/unchecked inflation. I think Iran is busy enough (and will be even busier this Summer) with just keeping their own populace content. Even theocracies like Iran's has to play to the people every now and then.

If anything, Iran's involvement will DECREASE this summer.

The problem with the above statement is that the people reading it think that this is a rediculously low price for gas. Well, it is, but it IS a 25% increase that occurred overnight. It's like seeing our $3.25 per gallon gas price jump to $4.06 overnight. Would THAT make you upset?

Iran has a similar problem that people already know the US has. They don't have enough refineries for their own oil. They actually have to IMPORT refined oil to satisfy their growing requirements. I bet MOST of you didn't know that...

You kind of overlook the fact that the US home territories themselves were being bombarded by the highly mechanised and militarised Japanese Empire, but an ocean away. That is not the case and never will be with Iraq or Iran.

Newsflash: Saddam got busted in Gulf War I and got sanctioned and monitored thereafter - Hans Blix knew and stated that Saddam did not and could not possess WMD and yet you still cling to the dream of a WMD-based Iraq invasion.... Need I remind you that Iraq was an ally of the US when he gassed Halabja and was buying military equipment from the US!
