Well. C'est fini.

My computer just died on me - I restarted and I got a boot partition error ( I have dual boot ). Ran my XP Recovery disk. Didn't work. Got a boot config error every time, tried Vista...same thing.
My hard drive just got wiped. I have lost everything. I mean everything.

That is why I had to make a new account here, until I can get a new HD ( this computer doesn't read DVD-R ) I cannot access my passwords.

This sucks. I don't even know if my hard drive had any information on it anymore. I can't check anything.

I apologise to Entertayner and his crew ( I wont be online for...well, months maybe ). All the coding I had has gone down the drain. It looks like my hard drive is irrecoverable.

What am I supposed to do now? I can't even re-format my HD and start fresh. It's fucked. Big time.

Bah. That is why consoles are better, they don't have a shit on your face when they feel like it.

I reformatted 3 weeks ago. This was a clean system. I have some things backed up from before then. But... I have done a lot of work since then. I can't just live in fear and back-up every second day.

My passwords were saved in an encrypted text file and I copied and pasted them onto the website, or used a bookmarklet. Kinda hard to remember passwords I didn't even make. Or see.

FC is going far enough, lets not expand. I will hopefully be back soon. But life is being a bitch right now and I am not sure when I will haved the time to configure another system. Again.

What is the point of that? And let the hard disk die on me again?
There is probably a way to recover my files by going to a technician. But I am not willing to pay $200 for some work done on my shit hard drive.
I might as well buy a new computer.

Try hooking your hard drive up as a slave to another computer. You may be able to copy your files over if the other computer can read the disk.

no, but there are plenty of great programs that do automated back ups. just set up to run at night when you go to bed and you never have to worry about it.
