Yeah...maybe.

I don't like anyone who supported the war on Iraq, and he falls into that category.

He only hung on because he wanted:
a) to hit the 10 year tenure mark and
b) to get his glory day of adulation out of the NI peace process.

Exactly (especially on (b)).

Ahhhhh, he's not that bad.
His plus points=
Was instrumental in sorting Northern Ireland out.
Has strengthened the economy.
Was good for Britain on the global stage. IE, obviously intelligent and articulate and a good face for the people he represented.

Bad Points=
Privatising everything.
Trying to take a socialist country down the same line as the capitalist USA economically.
Fucking up the national health and plunging it into debt to private investors.......
Following the USA into Iraqi. I think he was pressured into this and had little option considering the economic ties between UK & US, though he should have been a leader and done what the people he represents wanted and get out.
Being stupid enough to think the British public would be happy to have an unelected leader in Brown. The Torrie's will get in at the next election. Brown has been robbing the tax payers of the UK to fund wars etc and now we are supposed to take him on as our leader? Don't make me laugh. The tax man is your enemy and that makes Brown my biggest enemy!!!

Aye - in last ten years here all I see is new Schools / hospitals / civic buildings / public leisure facilities / new business opening, housing & infrastructure being built - Thatcher & Major? gave us fuck all! except increased the lot of the Rich, and mass unemployment in the UK, while destroying the NHS - not to mention the slaughter & bloodshed on our streets, all Stopped by Tony Blair, he has secured the Rights and liberties for all peoples on these islands, not to mention forged ahead with reform of the house of Lords, devolved power, introduced a fair minimum wage - as the tories screamed it would destroy the nation, etc etc.

Why he chose to align himself with such ardent right winged nuts jobs like Bush and Berlusconi will be a mystery for me, shame the fuck up he made with Iraq -  other than that I think he tried his best to clear up the last fucking mess the Tories left the country in.  Good luck to him I say.

To me, he has done a good job! It's a great shame he's stepping down.

He makes a great point about thinking back to 1997, he really has improved this country, I don't care what other people think, there was too much political pressure not to supoort the war in Iraq, so don't hold that against him.'

Good job Tony! And good luck to his successor.

I wouldn't exactly give Saint Tony that much praise but I'll admit he was a heck of a lot better than Thatcher and the Tories and the North as a whole was able to make great strides with him in No. 10

I just saw some of that on TV, and it stuck me what utter gimps his supporters are. I don't really like or hate him, but that conference he was giving was full of retarded, dancing, 60 year old ladies.

I agree with that. The MAJOR problem was that he did go to war. That is what made people instantly change their minds about him.

That sounds pretty much right.

One thing I should add is that I hate virtually everything Tony Bliar stands for. The whole new Labour thing is just a load of spin and bureaucratic rhetoric in overwhelming doses. I don't like any of that.

But despite what I think of all that, he does seem to have done a fairly decent job. It all just went wrong when he got near the end of his time in office and started thinking about his legacy.

Like many prime ministers he had great points, but always gets remembered for the bad stuff.

Anti-Iraq was one of the largest British protests in HISTORY OF ENGLAND.
Did he listen? No. Too busy sucking up to Georgie Boy.

Would he have been remembered better without Dubyah?
