Best Media/audio players?

Well, I need one. A good one. Not Windows Media Player.
I want something that plays music well and is user friendly and nice.
I saw this, but it looks way too bulky - http://www.jrmediacenter.com/
Don't ask how I got it. I just did.

I would like something that doesn't take over the whole CPU and slow everything down.
Suggestions?

If we get enough suggestions, I will edit the post and make it a sticky so people can look at the best media players out there.

I still use Winamp (audio, video, and for ipod).

I've tried several different programs, but somehow I always (since like 1998?) end up returning to Winamp.

I meant bulky in terms of Memory usage. You can change those skins dramatically. That is why you have to pay for it.

For videos I use vlan. Its very simple to use and very good. Also it comes with all the codecs you will ever need (except FRAPS).
For music its winamp since I was born.

winamp is great IMO. relatively low mem & CPU usage, when you auto hide & dock it at the top of the screen its very unobtrusive. vlan for everything that has some weird codec winamp cant play.

VLC player plays everything and anything, I used to use it all the time on XP but there isn't a working version for vista yet, all I get a blank white screen!

i use itunes for several reasons:

1: allows me to import all my audio as WAV files

2: iPod

3: has a shared library feature for all networked computers

the last one is a biggie, esp because it works on my home-theater system as well....

VLC just plays anything, no mater how broken it is. I like it as it can play .part files so when downloading video you can watch it as you download it, but you still have a saved copy at the end.

I need a new media player myself. Media Monkey seems to be completely borked on my computer, it starts up and says "Media Monkey has encountered a problem" yada yada, but works fine.. for a few seconds, then shutsdown auto.

Anyhoo, I want one that will respond to keyboard buttons, has a mini view (essential), changeable skins? will handle any format, runs quickly, starts quicker.
