If I were to apply the same generalisations that you do then I would be entitled to declare that all Americans are fond of torture, sexual abuse and extra-judicial killing. But I have sufficient intellect not to engage in such stupid behaviour.

THAT is not the point of the OP. The point is that there is no Muslim outrage over the kid beheading another person. It has been shown to you that Americans condemn far less crimes than that. The fact that these people were punished as listed in my previous post would moot your generalization that Americans for the most part approve of such behavior. As it is now, YOU can not make the same claim about the beheading.

PS...Unless the wsoldier in the picture actually killed the guy and he did not die in battle. Her posing with the body does not compare to beheading him does it?

Quite a few Americans spoke out in defence of such behaviour Lowing. Your president actually proposed legislation that would loosen US laws banning the use of torture, the torture-sufferer John McCain being the voice of reason that averted what would have been a national disgrace/shame. Gitmo is still open you know Lowing - a lot of people think that's AOK. Here in the rest of the world we look upon it with the disgust it deserves.

The act discussed in the OP is horrifyingly sickening and difficult to comprehend. Thankfully I don't really have to comprehend it because I certainly won't be going to that lawless part of the world anytime soon. The reason the perpetrators won't be held accountable for their crimes is because of the meaningless shambles of a government they have. They live in a state of anarchy. I don't really think you fully comrepehend the climate of fear that exists in those kind of countries. Protesting a la western free speech parades is pretty much gonna end up with you getting your head chopped off. Say the wrong thing in Northern Ireland and you'd get a bullet in the head. Same applies over there. Last time I was in London there were thousands taking part in a Muslim parade outside Hyde Park - lots of young muslims were handing out leaflets decrying terrorists 'unrepresentative of Islam' carrying out atrocties and such. Maybe you have your head buried in the sand. The media certainly does. I guess you aren't very familiar with real muslims.

Unlike you Lowing I have principles when it comes to things like torture. I will NEVER entertain the thought of condoning or turning a blind eye to my representatives ceding the moral high ground by sanctioning such unrpincipled and depraved behaviour. My how America has changed. Now torture is OK! Well excuse me while I frown upon that for a while. As John McCain testified: torture mostly brings forth information of zero usefulness, himself having suffered at the hands of the Vietnamese in a concentration camp for several years. People will say anything, true or false, under extreme physical/mental duress. I'm sure if I was subjected to torture I'd confess to the fucking Kennedy hit if I thought it would ease the pain.

This sickens me lowing. You are expressing outrage at the fact that muslims aren't protesting outside your front door to show their disgust and yet you sit here and post the pros of something that brings your country into serious disrepute. It's quite ironic.

Who else engages in torture should not concern you if you are principled. Just because someone starts sending jews to gas chambers doesn't mean it's ok for others. Just because I rob a bank doesn't mean it's ok for you to rob a bank.
