Bah, as long as it sends something small and fast in the general direction of where i aim it, i'm happy.
Null vote. All are just as good in different areas.
It really depends on what kind of pistol/caliber you want. But if I had to choose i guess id say H&K simply for there USP line.

My choice would be limited to one manufacturer: Glock. I have only shot a glock 19 and small 22 caliber one time in my life. Other than that I haven't even touched a gun.
Colt 45acp - I Have A Stainless Steel National Match Which In 10.000 Plus Rounds Has Never Failed , Also Everyone Is Trying To Copy A Gun That's Almost A 100 Years Old!
The glock 17 is my favorite.
What happens to you people?
Not H&K..
Beretta!

Hm. HK are known for quality and reliability, Colt have the 1911, which is a design so good it hasn't changed much in almost a century, and IMI do the Eagle.
Have to go with H&K.

Well, James Bond liked the good old hi-power, but from what ive read, Sigs are the best handgun, in terms of reliabilty, which is what you want in a side arm

The water pistol wins everytime
SIG Sauer
HK and Glock come in pretty close.
1911s are great, but I can't vote solely on one pistol.

I love my 1911. I was so happy when the US army went back to them and ditched the Beretta.
This is about as far as my hands on knowledge goes, other than revolvers and .22 pistols.
I voted Colt, but know a lot of people that like the Glock.

Depends on what you want & what you like
between the two ive shot (beretta and sig) i'd have to go with the sig. it felt more balanced and easier to control in successive shots.

Springfield Armory.
Springfield's arent too shabby. A little info though. Springfield Armory 1911s with the NM serial number rather than N only are superior.
NM#- U.S. built from scratch
N#- Brazilian. Majorly manufactured in Brazil. Finished in the U.S.. Quality control is all in the U.S. for both versions.
The XD Polymers are pretty damn flawless. Even after thousands of rounds, You can run over with a car, degrease the entire gun, throw it off a cliff, freeze it, shoot it wet, shoot it full of mud, pick it up, load it and fire. I've seen it the test results. I needs to get me one.

You forgot to add Kimber to the poll! And I'll be moving this...
Sig Sauer... best back up you can have.
HK. Period.
I had one of these.
Special Forces use one of these.
