For those of you who don't know me. (Which is probably all of you) My name is Ollie Martin. I'm a trainer/presenter for a Finance company in the UK.
The other day I ran a bunch of training sessions with over 200 members of staff (16 in each session) on motivation. In which we investigated what puts people in bad moods, the effects of their moods on others and what they can do about it.
I was amazed to find how many people truly hate their jobs. Personally I found them selfish and annoying and I wanted to remove their beating hearts infront of their eyes. The people here are better off than 90% of the world's population. They seem to forget that not being beaten to work, not having the risk of a cave in, or the worry of where the next meal will come from are all good things. They think that their manager asking them to work a little harder is like being regularly knifed in the testicles. But hey, maybe that's just human nature.
So I wondered if this is the same in other jobs. Is it common that people hate their jobs, or is it just my place that is so bad.
Personally I love my job, I find it fantastically rewarding and often wish I could get back to work. But then I've always been a bit of a geek.
Let me know how you feel about yours and why.
