Here's the breakdown of the victims by race/ethnicity/country of origin.  There indeed were blacks, asians, and mexicans in the bunch.  I still am trying to figure out which type of prejudice allows the Stormfront crowd to condemn this slaughter but become pro-Bushie cheerleaders for the deaths of others.  Is it religion then?  Nationality? Or do they just like pro-fascist rhetoric when it spews forth from an oil tycoon tyrant but not an Arkansas hick.  How can they justify the torture of Jose Padilla, a mentally handicapped American citizen, by our government's hand for years on end but condemn the result of a violent stand-off in which some of the victims could actually shoot back?  How can they advocate policies resulting in the slaughter of hundreds of thousands of Arab and Pashtun Christians and Muslims THAT WERE NOT TERRORISTS AND HAD NO DESIRE TO HARM ANYONE and the waste of $1/2 trillion of their tax dollars to do this and then condemn a shootout in Montana in which 2 innocent people died?  How can they want to gangbang homosexuals on US college campuses and "punch some uppity liberal peace protesters" and then expect us to feel outrage that some of their fellow gun nuts were gunned down?

Where is the disconnect, where is the difference?  What mental dividing factor allows them to keep this compartmentalized if it isn't racism, nationalism, or religious fervor?

Gorilla, you see it pretty clearly, the disconnect, even if neither you or I fully understand the reason for it. This disconnect is the reason I laugh whenever some fluffy bunny lefty suggests we need to make common cause with the radical right, because after all we have a common enemy and all that shit. What they fail to realize is that the radical right will happily see that common enemy do us all if they don't actually toss us to those wolves themselves. We have no common cause with the radical right. We're all freaks and deviants and godless commies to them and as such we're only worthy of one thing, death. As long as we exist, their perfect fantasy land America never will. Forget what the "patriot" movement groups say when they've got some dumbass reporter's ear and the cameras are rolling. For the real truth of how they feel, you need to be around when it's just people they know and trust and they've gotten a few beers in them. The "fellow gun-nuts getting gunned down" bit is a perfect example of heavy-handed domestic policy by the government, which is irrelevant to individual violence. But for the record, I don't want to gang-bang college gays or punch peace protesters.

Off-topic, I've always thought the label "peace protester" was somewhat strange. Taken literally, it would translate directly to anti-peace advocate. It should be "protester for peace," but I suppose that's too much effort for the press.
