For some reason, after the second patch, came out, it wasn't the recent one, My game wouldn't work. I would double click on the icon, open up the EA Link, and still nothing. I downloaded the game off of EA and don't want to purchase the hard disk because I already have a copy of the game I downloaded from EA Link. I uninstalled, deleted, redownloaded, repatched while the game was closed, still nothing. I double click on the icon I get an hourglass for a second, and then nothing. I have messaged EA twice and they say its my DirectX, which it can't be. its fully updated, and at its lowest setting without it being turned off. I have Radeon X1900 graphics card and the its fully updated. The game worked fine up until the second patch came out. I had a high rank too and really liked the game, which added to my miserableness over it. I haven't played the game in months now because of the game not working. I have a gig of RAM as well, and my computer is fine. Does anyone know anything? Cause EA doesn't seem to be helping much and Im thoroughly pissed and want to play the damn game again. Thanks.
Try uninstalling again and make sure that the directory and all of it's contents has been removed (HDD:/program files/Electronic Arts/Battlefield 2142) if it is still there, delete it...
also make sure you have deleted all of your settings, because these have casued problems with me before.. the settings (your profile) is stored in My dokuments.. find the BF2142 folder and delete that too.. then try installing the game
if it does'nt work then it's EA Link's fault or your hardware... i would'nt know anything about EA link issues because i own a hard copy...

I have a major pain with 2142 right now.....I got NS a few days ago, as a box with a code , so I went home , got NS, installed it...and wanted to check it out...then as I started, I got a prompting me to insert the game disc again, or remove and insert again...well I looked...the disc was in, so well...I guessed there was another error somewhere...reinstalled 2142, repatched etc...still same message asking me to remove the installation disc and press ok and restart the application....this is getting quite annoying now since all other games work fine, bf2, FH etc all working like a charm...What could be the problem? Disc is not damaged, DVD-player is not dirty or broken...believe me I checked over and over and over again...
I am considering using a no-cd crack, but that will probably stop me from online play, or won't it?
