If this is the wrong place to post this I'm sorry but, I figured it would get the most views here rather then in any of the other forum sections.

My boss received this from his retired military bother-in-law.

Russian SU-30- Vectored Thrust with Canards

As you watch this airplane, look at the canards moving along
side of, and just below the canopy rail.

This is a video of an in-flight demonstration flown by the
Russian SU-30MK fighter aircraft. You'll not believe what you are about to
see.

The fighter can stall from high speed, stopping in less than
a second. Then it demonstrates an ability to descend tail first without
causing a compressor stall. It can also recover from a flat spin in
less than a minute. These capabilities don't exist in any other aircraft
in the world today.

Take a look at the video with the sound up. This aircraft is
of concern to U.S. and NATO planners. We don't know which nations will
soon be flying the SU-30MK, hopefully China isn't one of them.

What a plane and what a pilot. Nice find man.

BTW, is it my imagination, or are there quite a few similarities betweem that and the F-15 Eagle (except for the canards of course)?

I would suggest that its a great plane capable of a few nice moves that some planes would struggle to do, but all the hype about it being able to take out the F15C's is just a way for boeing to get government(s) to buy their newer planes which aren't susceptible to this plane.

More information on the plane:

Nasa/Boeing did something similar a while ago, they attached F-18 rear horizontal stabilizers as front canards, and adapted a thrust vectoring system to it. The thing is, this isn't new as we know, Russia just happened to mass produce it first.

The SU-30 MKK is still a damn nice plane though...

That pilot executed the Pugachev's Cobra maneuver, at areound 1:40. very hard to do, kudos to him/her.

All you gotta do is right click and save target as. It's not a link that plays in a media player, its the file itself, which has to be downloaded.

And wow, that was pretty amazing. Whats with all the smoke?

the smoke is to show the air disturbance etc so you can see more clearly the physics around it.

Yes, but the Su-30MKK is used by the PLA in Battlefield 2.

I could watch demonstrations like that all day, those are sweet looking moves!!

Keep in mind there is much debate about how useful those moves are, however, since modern engagements occur in BVR (beyond visual range) weapons and avionics capability are the primary concern.

Still cool to watch though! I remember seeing a video of a pilot pulling off the cobra maneuver in either a F15 or F18. Here's the F22 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GrBx6G2O6A4
