I was about to ask if people are still having problems today, because I am. This is almost certainly not an upgrade, they wouldn't do that on a Sunday when everyone was playing, if they wanted to do an upgrade they would surely have done it on a Tuesday where the server is down half the day anyway and they would have announced it.
I would say there has been a fairly catastrophic failure somewhere, due to the length of downtime on a critical system, if it isn't catastrophic then they should have bloody fixed it by now. Building an online gaming system that is dependant on a master server that needs to be taken offline for several hours once a week and is also susceptible to downtime like this is a joke, the only reason for it is to save money, they could have at least coded it so users could still play online without a master server even if they were unranked and had no stats recorded.

EA announced it was working and blamed it on the Gamespy database, then it all stopped working again and they say they are working on it.
It might just be coincidence, but the EA stats site for 2142 is also down. For me, anyway

Maybe they are adding new content and preparing for a new patch, perhaps we are getting some more maps to play on....or it could just be wishfull thinking

Seems to be sorting out now... our server has just become joinable/visible after 2 days
This downtime is going on way too long - A REQUEST - IF YOU MANAGE TO LOGIN to BF2 and/or BF2142 could you please come back to this forum and mention it in this thread. That would be much appreciated as I am assuming this is still a problem for everyone (or maybe I'm wrong). ANYWAY -THANKS IN ADVANCE - it is way quicker to check this forum than wait 'bleep bleep' ages for BF2142 not to do the business.
