My system specs are geforce 7900gto, e6600 @ 3.0ghz, 4gb ddr2 800, vistax64, 500w antec smartpower 2.0 psu.

I get just under 100fps in bf2 (95-99 on avg.). BF2 is the only game I really play currently. Would upgrading to an 8800gtx improve my bf2 gaming performance much? I'm in no hurry to get a dx10 card since I don't play any dx10 games, but have enough money. I know my video card is what is bottlenecking me in 3dmark06, but would I see any difference in performance in BF2? Thanks.

Yes, but you can use "game.lockfps 999" in the console to get over 100fps

LOL

Your performance is probably already better than 90% of all players out there.

I'd be getting a new PSU first. I Wouldn't trust a system like yours on a 500 watt-er.

Thanks for the quick replies guys (minus the sarcastic a$$hole). I will hold off on the video card until I wanna play some dx10 games. Prices/selection will be better then anyways.

Make sure to invest in a new power supply first.

Yeah, the human eye cant even detect any thing over 60fps. An 8800 right now would be a waste  of money. especially if you just play bf2.  I would wait. At least till this comming fall to upgrade, and like everyone else you might need a new psu...depending on how much ampage yours pushes on the 12v rails.  I run a very similar system to yours and what you've got is pretty nice.  Save your money.

An 8800GTS 320mb would be faster than the 640... Go for speed over ram!

Does anyone have any recommendations for a new power supply for my system when I do upgrade my video card? My current one has modular cabling which I really like. I've noticed that most of the higher end power supplies don't.

Umm. No.
There is no difference between the stock 640mb part, and the 320mb part, aside from price and ram.
Resellers can, however, overclock. XFX currently has a very attractive 320mb part that is overclocked to the point of insanity, but it can suffer from the lower amount of memory sometimes.

isnt anything over 100fps invisible to the eye or something?
If your already at 100fps what are you complaining about? That beautifull, and no the 8800 shouldnt really improve your performance as from your specs it seems you would play on all HIGH settings.
