Alot of people make care packages for the soldiers, this is a good article to read. Me and my family helped donate stuff when my dad was in Iraq. Everyone can support our troops by sending mail, soap, etc. When we sent things when my dad was in Iraq we got alot of letters back saying how much the appreciate it, so you guys can help too if you want.

some girl scouts were selling cookies a few weeks ago, 5 bucks per box, and my mom bought 6 boxes to send to the troops

stuff like this is the kind of stuff that, although it appears minor, can raise our troop's spirits and give them at least one piece of happiness and comfort in the hellhole they have to risk their lives in daily

its bullshit that the troops arent treated better in the first place.. whats the incentive to fight for your country if all you get is the bare minimum????

actually they had to decrease the MRE rations about a year ago because the troops were getting too much food and gaining weight. I think we gave them more than the bare minimum

My dad told me that they feed you VERY well over there, they give you crab legs, shrimp, steak, but you always have to keep in mind that food could be somebodies last meal, sadly.

Well, my dad got his own room and everything because he's an officer and stuff, but he gained alot of weight there, like ten pounds.

Boresnake cleaning kits are probably the bore cleaner that is flexible rather than stick-like. And yeah, MREs are fattening. And back in the rear, you get diff kinds of food in the chowhall. But any little bit helps. Shampoo is nice, but smelling good is bad, enemy can detect scent from miles away. No smell good allowed in combat.

The MREs are fattening because they're designed for troops performing a very active role, and who could be cut off from food at any time.

However, this is a good idea. Soldiers always appreciate stuff from home, particularly if they can't find it over there.

I think I'll have to disagree with sending them rifle-cleaning and tobacco. They get enough of that. Give them stuff they miss from home, like (as mentioned) cookies, maybe some kind of pillow or something, a nice card. I think it's better getting a letter that cheers you up, than some porn to wank off too...

Well, the bare minimum that they've been getting in recent years is in terms of body armor and living conditions.

Yet, we still have enough money to give contractors Hummers and brand new Explorers. So yeah, we really are shafting the troops when you look at how much is being spent on contractors instead.

Look. If your morale is down, you're not going to survive with a perfectly functioning rifle. If you shoot yourself in the foot so you can go home, you wont be able to run very well, will you? I explained what I was saying, and I never said I was in combat. Just read my post.
