Hi guys,
Has any one got any ideas what could cause the lines you see in the screenies ?
I have updated graphic drivers.
The GPU temp maxes at 73 degrees.
My card is a BFG 7900 GT OC.
Intel Duel Core 3.4
2 gig ram.

Any ideas are appreciated, sorry there are so many pics, but you'll see what I mean.
The cone shape is a new one. I also had black under the grass once. The lines have a fixed point in the sky and move with the vehicle. The cone changed in height when I moved towards it.

Thanks for any help.

I have had that recently too with a bfg 7600gt. I was getting temps around 75C-78C when this was happening. I just attributed it to artifacting due to heat but I could be wrong. I ended up changing the thermal paste on the fan, and adding another fan to blow across the card. seemed to help, now my temps max about 68C.

How long do you have your graphics card yet?
If you have had it for a longer time now, you should clean it from dust inside of the GPU fan.
I have those lines sometimes too (My graphics card 7800GTX).
And they always appear when the GPU is a little dusted.
Therefore I gotta open the grey fan plate and clean it from dust.

Also a system clean up would be apreciated:
- temp files
- browser cache
- defrag the harddrive
- etc.
One least option would be clearing the BF2 cache after you cleaned the graphics card and before you start BF2 again.

Cheers guys, the dust thing makes sense.
My PC is under the stairs so it does get really dusty, I'm always cleaning it out.
Just never under the fan.
I'll give it a go.

Thanks.

You need to cool the card more i have a 7600gs 512 card run everything on max settings but my temps peak at around 48-50 degrees, i have a sunsun galaxy case which has 2x9cm front fans 1x 12cm rear fan and 1x 25cm fan on the side of the case best £50 i spent when i upgraded my PC. One other thing you can try to do is if you have more than 1 fan in your PC case make sure 1 is pushing air in and the other is pulling air out, most fans are reversable.

heres my case well worth a look at if you have pasively cooled GFX card and you O/C'd your system because of the cooling it offers http://www.techniz.co.uk/modules.php?na … amp;id=327

@Jamesb

Do you have the 512 or 256MB RAM version ?

Oh well, that's more of an advantage, so you'll see enemy vehicles behind covers (or rather their... lines) even though they can't see you ^^

So you have the flat version?!
(Sth like the one I posted a img of before.)
If that's so, you gotta actually watch that this very piece of your equipment stays dust free.
I gotta clean mine again too since I'm getting the same special effects like you again.
Before that I'll need to get them tiny screwdrivers and a small brush.

The reason I asked about your RAM is that grafic card manufacturers used to produce single slot cards more than double slot cards. If you have a single slot like I do you have to maintain the card dust free.
So your card can get easier cooler air to cool itself. A good cooling adivice is posted by smuder201 above.
(make sure that the air streams in only one direction through the case.)
My g/c for example was produced the first few month as single slot by asus and when I tried to buy a new one there were only double slot versions left available since Asus stopped producing the single ones.

@ DanCer.

My card looks different to that one, I'll post pic when I get it off my phone.

EDIT: Here's a link

Single slot (the one U got):

Double slot ( exact the same grafix card as I have just with double slot blend and bigger fan )
https://geizhals.at/img/pix/161592.jpg
This card was not over clocked and had the same rates like the single one.
You see james, that's the reason why you have to clean it up again: not enough air.

I have a 7800GS OC and mine will do that only if I overclock my CPU to far. I think it has something todo with my motherboard not having a PCI/AGP lock in the BIOS. I have the side off of my case and my CPU is at 28 and my GPU runs at 45 under a load.

Dude, it doesn't matter how many slots it takes up, lol.

If you're worried about cooling, just get a Zalman VF900, and your cooling problems will be solved.

BFG are taking the card back, they said it is way too hot at 70 degrees.

I cleaned it all from dust, but it didn't make much difference.

Thanks for all the help

Stretch to infinity polygon glitch. A universal problem with all such games, at times, and usually the result of poor drivers and/or overheating. Clean out your insides, stop overclocking and update your drivers to something official.

This is all done with now.

The card was too hot, BFG had it back, I now have my third 7900 causing me problems.

The inside was clean and dust free, with new paste.
The card doesn't need over clocking, BFG do that.
I used BFG and nVidia drivers, I don't know how many versions I tried.

So to any one who has problems with a 7900, send it back.

I've seen those in-game not just in Screenshots. There just some little graphics glitch.
