I dont know. I too was there helping. I wasnt in the thick of things I will admit, I have a background of carpentry so I was building temporary emergency and medical stations. I agree with you on the media exploiting chaos, Heraldo Rivera made me want to fuck a cheese grater with his antics. You must admit when everything finally settled down there was an awful lot of stealing. Now I understand survival will kick in. The same store you frequent every week for groceries and what not isnt open, nor is any other so you have to steal to survive. The point I am trying to make is that some of them could have survived without plasma TV's.

The plasma TV thing was very rare. People were taking more food than anything. The police and national guard would watch why they would go in and get what they needed to survive. But a plasma TV doesn't do much good with when you house is six feet under water and you have no electricity .

I have no problem with the actions that were taken.

Ya know, when you hear about the babies getting raped in the bathrooms of the shelters, and the gangbangin mother fuckers who took over N.O. as soon as they got the chance. And then the innocent people are stuffed inbetween all that, its sad, if only there was a way to let the gangsters all drown in there shithole and save the good people. Too bad that couldnt have happened.

Do you have proof?  Even if true, should others suffer for this?  If this would have been Florida you can bet your ass Fema would have been there the mine the winds died down.

You have no problem with the leader of your country sitting watching TV as the city lay floundering for 3 days.  I would agree mistakes were made by both local and state governments.  However leaders pick up the slack when others falter.  Which proves my point, he is no leader.  He needs to go.

From the outside looking in, NO wasn't entirely the fault of the various facets of the US government, it was in part the peoples fault.  I mean come on!  The citys been flooded, instead of showing some community spirit and helping people out we'll go loot and rape!  And when we get payouts, lets...I dunno...have a sex change instead of rebuilding!

You seem to be awfully dismissive of the people of New Orleans. Were you there? What did you expect them to do? Suck the water up into their bellies???? That's a blatant insult you just hurled at your fellow New Orleans countrymen who sweat blood and tears to fix the mess they were in. I think you might owe them an apology....
Well actually, I just gave him karma for his comment. Truth hurts, the vast majority of the people affected by Katrina 6 months or a year later are people who were already leeches and are trying to suck every ounce of gravy they can from the govt.. Everyone else moved to a new place the following months after Katrina     (probably because they were marketable and could find work) and got on with their lives. They had insurance, they got paid off or they had problems with the insurance company, either way it wasn't the govts. fault.

New Oeleans is a city packed full of corruption and leeches and tics. The best thing that happened to that city was wash it all away. Now that the leeches and tics has moved to other cities, New Orleans might actually have a chance.

I'm sure there is more you all can add.  However I look at these alone and think,WTF.  There is a prevailing scent of BS surrounding this administration.  Coupled with the lack of faith of the American people.  Since there is no avenue to pursue to get him out of office without him committing a crime, which in my mind he has committed a crime to the American people.  What can we do.

I would love to see a "No Confidence" vote like the British HOC has.
Indeed, parliamentary systems are generally much more flexible than our system.  They seem to respect the idea of proportional representation more as well.

The only major thing I can think of right now that I hate about the British Parliament is the Prime Minister's ability to call elections when he feels like it.  That's giving the executive too much power.

We have a no confidence vote. It's called our elected Congress. They are the only ones who can declare war also. And when they get out of line the Judiciary branch checks them. We have a series of checks and balances to ensure power is distributed. The President has to get approval for nearly every major decision he makes.

True, but Parliament can call a no-confidence vote at any time.  Congress can only vote for impeachments.  I prefer the no-confidence method, because it results in another election and gives the decision ultimately to the people.  Impeachment just removes one person, not an administration.

I could just imagine the turmoil that would cause here. Politicians are ruthless and conniving. I would be more satisfied with shorter terms. That way we could ensure removal was coming from the people and not partisan politics.

Haven t you seen those non stop kick votes in BF2?

True...  but I guess I love the lively nature of Parliamentary debates.  Those guys are hilarious.  They really say how they feel, whereas our politicians are usually so pretentiously formal.

They were not told to leave until 10 am the day before (5am it made landfall). Simply not enough time for an evac of that size. Especially considering many did not have the means. I will tell you from personal experience that if you are in a mandatory evac area and you decide to stay, the police and rescue workers will probably only enter when they feel safe. They are not required to risk their lives because some stayed (Although many did).

Good points, but Louisiana just seems like the retard state compared to the responses of other states during natural disasters.  Florida, North Carolina, Texas, and Mississippi all seemed to deal with emergencies in far better ways in their most recent natural disasters.
