-A lot of Vietnam-war era rock is pretty good. BF Vietnam's music selection kicks ass frankly =p
-Metallica. I don't care that you said no metal, Metallica is great.
-RATM. What kind of genre they are, I'm not sure. But they kick ass. RATM=Rage Against the Machine
-Red Hot Chili Peppers (RHCP). Great band, easy rock style.
-Europe. Well, I don't know any of their songs asides from The Final Countdown. But that song rocks.
-Nirvana's pretty good
-REM is good too.
-Fort Minor's a good hip hop
-Flogging Molly. Bunch of Irish guys and one Irish chick, playing guitar, drums, and fiddle. Singing in an Irish accent. High tempo for many songs. If you saw "Mine II", then the song at the end = Drunken Lullabies by Flogging Molly.
-I like Linkin Park's non-emo stuff. Quite frankly, they've got maybe 3 emo songs.
-NOTHING BY FERGIE. AT ALL. DON'T SUPPORT THIS TRASHY, UNTALENTED WHORE. Seriously, her songs suck more cock than she does (which is a lot!). They're unimaginative, stupid, and not very enjoyable. Yet they rocket to the top of the charts each release, and people lap it up like dogs lap up vomit (a very good analogy IMO). I admit some of the songs can rub on to you, but that doesn't mean you enjoy it. It's like forced torture.
Good luck in finding some good music. Give those bands I listed a chance, they're good.

Anyways... "Acoustic Verses" by Green Carnation is an album I'd recommend. Title kinda explains itself.
Also you might like Reaper. They're kinda like Prodigy only with bigger balls.
