Site is in Chinese, but the pics speak for themselves.

This is the card that was previously referred to as the 8600 Ultra.

5488 in 3DMark06. Not bad.

Yeah, but I get 4151 in 3Dmark06 with my AGP card so I wouldn't use it as any kind of indication of what it can do.

How come he was using ATi tool?
I why was the memory only 256MB? I thought for an 8xxx series, it would be at least 512MB.

ATiTool works on NVidia cards too. I haven't had much luck using it to overclock, but it works well for artifact scanning.

The 8600GTS will come with 256 or 512MB of 128bit DDR3. Release date is slated for April 17.

That's a great score off such a crappy CPU.

On a Core 2 Extreme X6800 processor, GeForce 8600 GTS scored a pretty impressive 5,7xx pts in 3DMark06 which is slightly faster than the 7950GT
Not a whole lot more benchmark performance out of such a high-end CPU.

I'm a bit sceptical of the VR-Zone results. The card used in the Chinese tests looks far more like a ready to release card and the benchmark scores seem inconsistent.

An extra 400 3DMarks is far less than you would expect, going from a 3000+ to an X6800, far less. I'm inclined to believe the Chinese site.

I have a question...

When the 8600 is released, is it likely that 8800GTS prices will change?

What about when R600 is released? I really want a new gpu (7800 is alright, but it doesnt cut it in some games now... hoping it can run ArmA!)

More news, this time with a volt-modded GTS:

http://vr-zone.com/?i=4875

With 1.5v VGPU and 2.4v Memory, I broke 7K 3D Mark 2006 and 15K 3D Mark 2005, hitting well above 900MHz Core and 1200MHz Memory! CPU is X6800 lightly overclocked at 3.2GHz.
Definitely not a practical, long term overclock, but dayum! 1GHz core? 0_o

lol @ 128bit.

As long as it's fast enough, who cares?

I know I know, I'd also have likeed 256bit as some kind of "free" power-up, but meh Imagine, a 512MB version with 256bit - it would kick a 7900GTX's ass very very hard because of the many pipes...

you should be looking @ the video/shader model #'s for 3dmark, not the overall....note that the cpu score was equivalent to a P4...

Some Lucky Aussie got hold of a card and posted some pics and benches.

3DMark06 Score is in the same range as the other two sites that have leaked early benchmarks. 5542 stock, 5847 overclocked.

Now what a surprise that two high-end cards own a mid-range card although it's newer

I'm building a new C2D system and I need to choose between a 7950GT or wait a little longer for the 8600GTS.

I think noone can tell yet. Possibly, wit the hype around 8600 GTS there'll be something like a 8900 GS, topping the 8600 GTS and about the same price as the 7950 GT is now.
Also I'm kinda uncomfortable with the idea of not including BF2 in the benchmarks there, as the narrower memory interface has a really great impact on Doom3 & FEAR (and everything that's based on that engine, while HL2 doesn't show any significant differences. Yet, we don't know how well it works with BF2, but as the 7600 GT with its 128-bit interface also is quite neat, I assume the 8600 GTS will do well for the Battlefield series.
