The mood here is so much more relaxed then in the US.

For example - Ive been married to  a blond(real)  blue eyed WHITE person for over 15years - I am by birth from the Philippines ( yea a flip )  Ive never had be told yet of how Im diluting the pure white race - not to my face anyways.

Toronto is a very cosmopolitan city and for the most part nothing is questioned as far as racial profiling.

It wasnt all that way while growing up for most of my life here.

As the ONLY non white kid in my early grade classes I was called from being a raghead to a paki even nigger which actually confused me more than actually hurt my feelings.

BUT things changed and hopefully it will continue to.

Its not all perfect  - I remember a time when I purchased a cottage up north and I happen to stop by a small town named Cannington for some b.b.q. stuff.

I happen to notice an all mens fastball game and I thought being an ex-tier 2 player I thought Id check out the local talent.

As I sat behind the home plate to see the pitchers delivery - he looked at me and said out loud "hey watch your things there is a colored here"

I started to chuckle out loud and I blurted out that they should keep an eye out for their kids too....
For some reason I got both all white teams to give me this dirty look as I walked back to my car.

Opps I ment to type it was a small redneck town....

The only part I generalized, was saying that all blacks during the slave times, probably didnt want to be slaves. As most or all during the CRM wanted equality.

And people never "look past" their ancestors, because at the crucial time in, say, a political move, they will use their race for leverage.

Example: Obama. Word leaked out that his family dates back to a slave, so that comment alone wins sympathy amongst millions of people.

What the fuck. Everywhere I go now, Blacks and Mexicans are trying to be as far away from mainstream America as possible. I was in class today, my teacher called on the one Black kid in my class, and he st ood up and shouted "You just pick on me because I'm Black.." He then walked out of the classroom. Its like they are trying so hard to be understood, but they aren't letting anyone understand them. Its fucking ridiculous.

Same with the Mexicans in this area. They are so against the way of life that I grew up in (as did most of them). Now don't get me wrong, everyone in California has a little Spanish in them, but thats ridiculous.


Bottom line: I know your people may have struggled in the past, but you really don't have to take it out on the rest of us just because you came from somewhere else and your family had it bad in the past.

just an example: recently a black guy got tased by a cop and then they beat him after he was on the ground for resisting arrest. they said he wouldn't stay still. of course he wouldn't because shit he got 50000 volts in his body. but you know there ain't racism no more. THANK GOD@!@!!!!!

Here's my response:
A. Let's take this statement in context. The part about "not trying at parts" deserves more than a parenthesise. America has NOT been trying to erase racism for 300 years. In fact it has encouraged it for a vast majority of that time. See Supreme Court Decisions on Plessy Vs Ferguson et. al.

B. During the civil rights period of the 1960's (there have been many periods dedicated to the search for civil rights), I think that the interested parties would have settled to be treated as human, and not "a part of mainstream Americana." When two things are combined, neither will ever be the same again. Therefore the definition of "Mainstream Americana" would have to be changed after these "Black people were accepted into it."

C. This statement troubles me on many different counts. But I'll leave my response to this one point. Even if "Equal employment was rampant" there has never been equity of jobs, nor wages. That includes the minute I write this, and the minute you read it.

D. I would like to point out how this paragraph was worded. The CAPS, and quotes are mine. You said that "ONE Black Kid" stood up in class, and then in conclusion you said "THEY are trying . . . " I understand and appreciate your anger and I suppose that you would like to resolve these feelings (hence your post). I therefore feel obligated to tell you that your generalizations about whole races based in majority on your personal observations is contributing to this problem.

You say in your "Bottom Line" that you know our people have struggled in the past. In truth I tell you that our people struggle today. In your home state crops are sprayed with chemicals while immigrant pregnant mothers are picking fruit. African Americans have much higher rates of unemployment, salary equity, infant mortality, and incarceration than whites. Yes our people struggle.

There is such a thing as institutional racism. We are all part of it despite our best efforts. In a friendly way I would like to extend an invitation for you to volunteer at a community center that caters to a culture that you would like to know more about. To join a community is to understand it. We all have problems; some of them are systemic. That doesn't mean that we all deserve the treatment that we get as a result.

If you don't want to get flamed as racist you shouldn't reach an inductive generalization based on "the one Black kid in my class" or some Mexicans.

Also, your qualifier is pure hokum. Why post in D&ST (especially with a title like "Minorities kinds piss me off") and complain ex ante about flaming? This thread is tailor made for contentious argument based on those aspects alone.

Based on your reasoning I'd call you racist.
