I will slate Rugby as well if you want. But we were not talking about that, were we? Exactly.224th R0ck3tpack wrote:

I know what I am talking about, I understand what you were saying, but what you do not seem to comprehend is that the facts, example and comments you made don't stand agaisnt an argument of Football vs American Football.
2 different sports.
2 different games.
The point of AF is not to injure someone. Right. Just like in rugby. Yet people still aim on the field to try and hurt someone, why? Because it is humans instinct.
It may be a violent game, but it is more restricted than american football, there are probabaly less injuries.224th R0ck3tpack wrote:

Less small injuries, no. Less major injuries, I would have to say most definitely. Steve Young, who was the quaterback for the San Francisco 49ers, retired after having multiple concussions within a short period of time. Yes, even with all that gear and a helmet, these guys get hit hard enough to have concussions. Major knee and ankle injuries are also quite common.Shem wrote:

Just to give you an idea of how big these guys really are, there are now several teams in the NFL that have linemen (comprised of the center that hands the ball to the QB, 2 x guards, and 2 x tackles) where the average weight of these 5 guys are in excess of 300 pounds...for everyone else that's 136Kg+. The defensive line is usually about the same.
Linebackers usually run in the 250-270 pound range, 113-122Kg.
Dont need to open my mouth Zimmer said it all.
too bad he's not got all his facts straight.
More like spanish/italian/french football :S
There a lot of honest players in the English game which would get more penalties if they didnt go down so easily, in the box. This isnt a ref: to sex.
I watch football one league below the prem, the players here arn't under the same pressure, they dont have the big ego's and are a lot more honest.
As for creating this thread, been done before, many times, the last time a few weeks ago the arguements will just go round in circles.
I prefer football (the game you use your feet) rather than chuck ball because it's fast flowing, more skill full, less stop/start, more action and Ive watched it all my life.
American Football is and always be a great game. But America will always be the best at it.

The NFL is playing a game in London this year and has already received over 500,000 ticket requests, so that can't be just an unpopular sport only Americans like.
There is alot of divers in the premier league in the uk,alot of foreign players will dive and pull there faces when someone has tapped them.
There is alot of honest players out there but they are seriously out-weighed by divers. Most of them will try anything to get a free kick penalty to give them the advantage.
Very similar to AF when one of the defence grabs the Running back/wide reciever mask and pulls it back.and hope that the ref doesn't see it.
But to compare the two is impossible.
They are both totally different games.I'm a born aussie that lives in england and i only watch the world cup/euro games anything else i'm not intrested in.I mean i could supprt Stoke city but meh i don't like depressing myself.
Joke City I wouldnt support them either, just a small town in Port Vale.
Do American Footballers ever get caught roasting girls?

I knew this was coming, well actually port vale isn't a place as such just the name of the team on one side of "stoke on trent".1927 wrote:

I ain;t going to satrt on the cardiff thing as i don't follow football and haven't a clue
I would love to roast a girl there is one that works here thats is nick-named spit roast i would love to give her a good roasting "high five!" and maybe even a basting aswell.
We all know that AFL is the best sport to ever grace this world... It has the best of both worlds. Tough (without the pansy armor) and lots of skill.

Football is well tougher u gotta feel sorry for the goalkeepers to eg. cech & cudicini when they got kicked in the head and have no protective headgear, also john terry when he was on the recieving end of the big boot of the diaby knocked on unconsious and was back holding the carling cup trophy two hours later which made me laugh
in american football they wear protection in proper football they dont...
in american football they wear protection in proper football they dont...
Mon the rugby!!!....and the injuries
I cant argue too much with the ferocity of this sport, the guy lands horizontal from what seems 20ft up and his team mates pat him on the back and help him to his feet, that wouldn't happen in football.DrunkFace wrote:

I play hockey and have the scars to prove that isnt a girls only game, Cricket is the most aggressive sport Ive played but to me Hurling is the hardest. They do have video's on Youtube but I havent got time to fuck around with that atm, search youtube for Hurling.
Here are a few hard hits from past and and modern NFL games. There wasn't always all the protection, there used to be none at all, however, about 19 people died in one year during the early 1900's so protection was stepped up a bit. Also I can't really be sure as to why it is called football when there is barely any use of feet, but I do know when the first game played between Princeton and Rutgers was played in 1869 it did not resemble the game it is today as one could only kick the ball with no use of hands, hope this helps.

I like Football but all cheats should have the book thrown at them!
But Rugby is the better sport, I watched the Superbowl t'other week....... I cannot make head nor tail of it really.. its starts some one throws the ball forward.. and it stops for 5mins ? that's where it loses me!
I do believe the hard men play Aussie rules.. Fightin FTW!

BUT i respect soccer and think it takes skill/endurance/agillity w/e. both sports are great, but imo football is better
you should look at european football, any country apart from UK 9/10 players dive like chinese synchronised divers, seriously in the champs league you cant even raise your leg because the rest of europe are pussies at football. In the UK it is probably the hardest league "the premiership" because we simply have an extremely strong league with the likes of
-Manchester United
-Chelsea
-Arsenal
-Liverpool
-Spurs
-Newcastle
well maybe not liverpool
however football>american "football">curling
edit: i forgot that a german goalkeeper carried on playing a match with a broken neck, also check out
"djibril cisse" breaking his leg it is graphic, ill try finding youtube of it.
number one - djibril cisse leg break -
number two same player - leg break -

Any NFL player outside of kickers, receivers and quaterbacks could stomp out any rugby player with ease. Hell any division 1 college player could.Macca wrote:

OMG. The bias is so fucking unreal. Make a justified comment, not a pathetic, sweeping and stupid comment.surgeon_bond wrote:

"apart from the UK"? Bullshit. All players dive, since the 20th century, diving as become a popular reaction for a player in a poor tackle. Every team dives, every players has dived. Christian Ronaldo? Ring a bell?
The UEFA are actually actively investigating him for diving, as well as Drogba and other British player. Yet YOU say that UK football does not dive. Yeah, bullshit again.
Do you think the prem is a "higher" league? Do you think they are superior? Wow, you are so seriously wrong. English football is punting it up the park and hoping it reaches someone. The amount of passing and well crafted goals in the Prem is minimalistic. Fact.
British football is untidy, sloppy and very ugly to watch. Fact.
They may win and beat European teams, I know that, and yes there are many good teams in the British Prem, but to say it is the best? Come on, get realistic.
Ah yes, European players are now pussies according to you. That is why the best players in the world play in Europe and NOT IN BRITAIN. All players are exactly the same up to the extent of their gameplay.
British football = long balls, short defending, rely on strikers.
German football = concentrated passing, organised defending, crafted goals.
French football = slow, yet accurate football with a lot of good skill and midfielding involved.
Spanish football = fast passing, domination in the midfield, set pieces, accurate striking.
Of all of these, which is the ugliest to watch? British football.
Which one has the most goals? British football.
Why? Because defending is generally poor, and there is no concentration on possession.
I have given you plenty of reason why you are SO WRONG. I really do hate people who make such sweeping and disgusting statements.
What's the difference? Isn't AFL rugby?Macca wrote:

Comparing football and American football is like comparing Snooker to Cricket. They are totally fucking different!!
This whole topic was doomed from the outset.
And...most of all of what you say Zimmer is completely true.
Chelsea are NOT a top club. Obramovich (or whatever the fuck his name is) has effectively bought the premiership twice, and thats why I know of Liverpool and Arsenal supporters who want Utd to win the league.
Chelsea have basically proven that it is all about money. They did that in the course of a year, whereas Utd, Arsenal, Liverpool and others have built up over years and years. Mourinio was given a club on a plate, with a credit card with an unlimited balance on it. Who the hell couldn't win the premiership with that?
And when you pay £24million for Wright-Philips and sit him on the bench for the entire fucking 2 seasons they've had him - that kinda makes you think.
Wright-Philips was one of Englands best players coming from City, now hes a sellout as far as im concerned.
Yes, a lot of these European, and, tbh, foreign players DO dive a lot. Not that English players dont try it, but its just not all of our players. Gerrard was a good example the other week in the Liverpool match (2 penalties within a few minutes?!! Damn Scousers.).
Even though im a Utd supported, Ronaldo does dive a bit too much for my liking which is a shame since he is a top quality player. His winner at Fulham the other week was simply out of this world. A friend of mine was 4 seats from the line behind that goal when that went in. Lucky bastard

I think what he meant, was "English born" players as a pose to all players that are playing in the English leagues. Ronaldo (Portugal) and Drogba (African) are not English players, but do play in our league. (see what I mean?)Zimmer wrote:
