Well both you and I know that that is not the case.usmarine2007 wrote:

Why are people patriotic? Ok sure, I don't really 'belong' to any race - I'm half english, quarter german, quarter hungarian, and i think that the english half also has some northerners in there. To top that off I've lived in holland all my life. But still, I don't see why people want to belong to a worthless club so politicians can swing them around for their uses.
LOL. Fine stay there for the next 10,000 years then. I wonder what the death toll will be by the year 12007.UGADawgs wrote:

Dammit I want to take on the challenge presented by Bertsters list but that's a tall drink of water with more than a few facts distorted to suit the purpose of the original page.

What? Our plan didn't create instant success and magically make Iraq better in a second? Guess we ought to leave now immediately!CameronPoe wrote:

One of the things that I haven't exactly praised the Bush administration for in the conduct of the war (among other things) is that they sold Iraq as an easy project. Iraq's certainly going to be violent for a while and we'll be in there for many more years (albeit in a much diminished force, especially if the Dems win).
Yes, I'm sure it had nothing to do with their unilateralism.unnamednewbie13 wrote:
A. Easy. The short memories people seem to accuse Americans of suffering seem to affect most everybody else worldwide as well.
What I don't get is why some Americans can't understand how arabs aren't exactly enamoured with 'the Great Satan', as they put it, no matter how benevolent an act they are purportedly carrying out. A) Their culture is a million miles from western culture and B) why should they trust a country that unconditionally supports the arch enemy of the entire arab world, state terrorists Israel?UGADawgs wrote:

Knowing the BBC, I'm surprised the US wasn't 1st.
Cam, I was just thinking to myself that the next time you said "state terrorists" I was going to just snap, but apparently I have more tolerance than previously estimated. However, I agree. I don't know how somebody managed to misconstrue Islam to be an evil religion but they must have been quite suave.

Q. How on earth did the US manage to squander a seemingly limitless supply of sympathy and goodwill in the aftermath of 9/11 to come to be viewed negatively even by its supposed allies in the 'western world'?
This is exactly the kind of crap that we must eventually take support on. I hate the Saudi regime extremely, and I hate our forced friendship with them even more. Once we can get some kind of alternative fuel and stop reliance on foreign oil, we must push them them to abandon barbarism and adopt a constitution that guarantees everyone human rights (and a government that enforces it) with the alternate choice of all Western investment pulled out and the sheiks left in the desert.Kmarion wrote:

The United States is the UN. (The only remotely effective part of it anyways)CameronPoe wrote:

It makes you wonder why we are allies with a nation who engages in those kinds of things.UGADawgs wrote:

The US is the reason the UN is ineffective, and the reason it is ignored.weamo8 wrote:

It's not remotely effective at all - it vetoes every single god damn resolution brought against Israel, often being the one and only country to do so, all others being unanimous in condemnation. It's selectively effective - it's effective when it can get something as part of the deal.weamo8 wrote:

What is popularly implied against Americans is true for citizens of other nations as well, critique of her policies aside.Bubbalo wrote:

Except that my point was that it wasn't true.
Seriously, did you even read my post?

I am just happy we can all agree the U.N. is worthless. How doesnt the rest of the world see this?
The US sure does pay a great bit to act like they care.CameronPoe wrote:

No, it is true. While I did not state that everyone has a poor memory, I did bring up the fact that Americans do not have a monopoly on forgetfulness. Did read, though half of my attention was occupied by the unbalanced ATG moustache in your signature. Perhaps I missed some deep bit of Bubbalo wisdom?Bubbalo wrote:

My point is that the dislike for the US has nothing to do with a poor memory: people simply are unwilling to allow a country to do wrong simply because it has been wronged.unnamednewbie13 wrote:
