Serge - it doesn't serve any logical purpose for Iran to be mounting terror attacks on the US. They are going to be avoiding pretexts for the US to attack like the plague. Suppose they were? What would the motive be? How could they cause any meaningful damage to America without bringing about their own detruction? It just doesn't make sense. If you take note of Iranian governmental rhetoric they never once take an aggressive stance against the US, only a defensive one: stating that they are ready to retaliate if provoked. That is not like the kind of rhetoric you hear out of Osama Bin Laden or Saddam Hussein. If a 9/11 attack occurred where Iranians were implicated I'm willing to wager that the Iranian government would completely disassociate themselves with it, unlike Osama, who would revel in it and glorify it. I think people misunderstand Iran somewhat.sergeriver wrote:
I understand your point. But think this for a minute. Iran is in the Middle East. Venezuela is very close to the US geographically speaking, so if Iran is training terrorist cells in Venezuela they can make a lot of noise easier. Remember the border with Mexico is very long shit, and a Venezuelan and a Mexican aren't much different.

Strictly speaking, they are not attacking the US. They do sponsor terror against Israel, that is irrefutable, but I am tired of this whole USA=Israel=USA business. America needs to wake up to the fact that the reason the middle east doesn't like them is because they are controlled by state terrorists Israel.sergeriver wrote:

I guess none is a real threat... but out of the 3 clearly I'd be more cautious of NK. I'm curious though:
Venezuela harbors terrorists???King_County_Downy wrote:

The only threat to America's global supremacy is China. Economically not militarily.

Out of the three, Venezuela, or however the fuck you spell it.
Iran is dangerous to the USAF and US Navy, but not America.
Ditto for North Korea, their rockets could maaaybe reach California unloaded.
Neither have decent-size nukes.
Venezuela is close enough to mount an amphibious invasion of Florida, or a ground assault on Texas. Not sure if they have nukes, but conventionally, more of a threat.
I would have to finger the biggest threat to America currently at the stock exchange. If that crashes, the dollar follows, with hyperinflation not far behind. In the current climate and with the overseas commitments, things would go to hell fast.

Nor should they trust us. We need their brains to fuel our army of super mutant zombies that are eventually going to take over the world.CameronPoe wrote:
I think Venezuela are doing what they have to do - if I was Chavez I wouldn't trust America as far as I could throw it. He needs to build up the military to make sure that Venezuela won't be a walkover when they nationalise their oil fully and the US finds a convenient pretext for 'liberation'. Venezeula would never EVER attack the US without being attacked first by the US. As such, Venezuela is not a threat to the US.
Null. China.
BF2S is way bigger than those countries
I believe out of all the countries in the world, the US is the greatest threat to the US.
That said, out of those three I voted Iran. NK is no threat. While Venezuela, like Iran, could fuck with the US's oil supply, it doesn't have the resources to fuck with the US militarily or even through acts of terrorism. They're importing rifles FFS, Iran has built its own fighter jets!

not a threat from a distance
who is to say iran wont have cells ready in the next couple of years to set up bio warfare, or some type of attacks against banks and malls etc within our country. wouldnt be much.
bio is what im most concerned with.
and i do agree to an earlier statment, the us is it's worst enemy at times, and the public itself

You've gone up in my estimation usmarine2007! It should be obvious to everyone that the US is too powerful for any country to ever dare take on aggressively, logistically it would be impossible for any of these countries to attack the US anyway. The only time the US were in any kind of real danger post WWII was when Cuba almost allowed Russian nukes to be kept there.usmarine2007 wrote:

These countries are building arms as a deterrent for a US invasion, and it must be said they can't be blamed for believing they need to take this stance. We know the US are not fond of Chavez's Government and last time they were strongly opposed to a regime they cooked up a bogus story and invaded it on the grounds of that bogus story.
The US with their hyper aggressive attitude is the biggest threat to the US, countries and regimes are one thing but turn enough people against you (inside and outside America) and you're in trouble. The current US attitude encourages arms race scenarios.
Yeah, amen to that.Braddock wrote:

This thread should have been: "Which leader is the biggest threat to US?"
It is always some wacko leader with his evil sidekicks who gets wars started.
USA has been a such friendly country during the right leader and under that time no one else would even consider to attack the USA, who would???
Ok, Lyndon Johnson got a lot of shit from people like it was his fault, but actually the whole "cabinet" thought that it is a good idea to interfere with the conflict. And Lyndon had to take the shit in this case... So you can´t always even blame the leader... They are also humans and sometimes they too fuck up but in a larger scale.
Now, back to the topic.
I must honestly say that there is no such country that would be a threat to US. The only threats the US have are the well organized terrorist organisations who can make so called sneak attacks and terrorist strikes before no one can do anything about it. The USA has the power to defend themselves from any country, but there is no such country that can defend themselves from terrorist attacks, the only way is to somehow please everyone.
It is like a school class, the normal, friendly "nice to everyone guy" is every ones friend and has no enemies. When the ugly mean little bastard in the back row decides to throw a snowball at his head during the break, all
his friends comes to his aid and kicks the bastards ass!!!
Which leads to that America is the biggest threat to America currently!!!
Wow, some text!!!
biological warefare is an increadibly scary threatbeerface702 wrote:

but also an unlikely one due to the very tight import and export restrictions on those kinds of chemicals and products
much more likely would be chemical weapons made from household products
and even more likely would be your average simple explosive
Venezuela = NO, right now they are just trying to show the world they have balls even though they don't.
N.Korea = No, they too are just flashing their nuts so as to not look like pussies.
Iran = Yes, just like they use terrorist groups to fight for them they will hatch a plan to attack Israel or us. They hope to get nuked so they can go crying to the world and say see the US is evil..boohoo.

Dude, it's not control. It's more like a good 'ole fashioned "We've got your back." And whether or not you like it, it's not going anywhere anytime soon.CameronPoe wrote:

The US will always defend Israel. The Irish will always defend the 5 counties. The French will always defend..... their 5 week vacations and the right to drink wine at work.
Really, our position defending Israel isn't significantly different than the one regarding the ROC. And I don't see you campaigning against Cyborg.
