yeah, China is definately gearing up for something...
Nope, its a combination of arms race/war thats about to happen, bunch of proxy wars will probably pop up soon.
Heres something else interesting:

Yes, but between what nations?
Its already been happening through out the Middle East -- by that i mean the Gulf States. We live in a time where no one really feels all that safe, and a build up by the Chinese does not really come to much of a surprise, but then again build up in conventional forces can / may signal a shift in power I'm just trying to understand the nature of their new defense push taking into consideration a few months ago the downing of that satellite.
Yeah, its been happening in the middle east but with China v.soon being established as a super power its does ultimately make an arms race worse. I wonder what will happen to Taiwan??Fen321 wrote:

Honestly..I don't know why I think this but I have a hunch it will be between Russia and China.. Don't ask why though, just a hunchFlaming_Maniac wrote:

They consider us a threat, they are gearing up a their military to be able to grab growing space and more economic power.Fen321 wrote:

Its either gonna be China going into Sibera going after the oil and other resources or a China/US war, starting to wonder though if Russia is gonna ally with China though against us.........teddy..jimmy wrote:

and yet Russia has more land than us... so why don't they talk about war with Russia? I don't hear anything about russia anymore expect for sending military stuff to Iran.
Siberia is not one of the greatest places to live, pretty much its only pluses are as a buffer zone to a invading army, or its vast amounts of resources.icecold2510 wrote:

ah thats true. Snow everywhere.
But don't we have EMP missiles in the US? or is it only Russia?
We can use that against China and wipe out their electronic warfare.
Why do Commies have to be so greedy?

Wouldnt that just give others an excuse to strike back on the USA?icecold2510 wrote:

Russia being aligned as it currently is actually has hidden benefits to NATO & aligned nations in that it gives Russian-aligned anti-NATO nations a huge incentive not to develop race-targetting biological weapons. Why create a weapon that'll wipe out all whiteys, when whiteys make half your gear?
wtf is a racist biological weapon, and are you pulling that out of your ass? I don't think theres such a thing as a virus that only affects someone with a certain amount of melanin in their skin.Pubic wrote:

Read it all and you will see.
if you are still a teenager then you've never experienced the cold war and don't really know what an arms race is. today's threats aren't based around conventional war but rather a combination of "proxie wars" or WMD's in the hands of extremists. there is no longer any point in conventional arms races. today its about technology and PR. Tech = less deaths. PR = more support for those dead.
no matter how big china's army is, they will not win a conventional war against the US. reason: tecnology. US economy is still FIVE times bigger than chinas despite having 1/4 of their population. if china wants to challenge the US it will be through other avenues.
the days of superpowers fighing superpowers is over...its too dangerous and they'll find other ways to slug it out.
so the answer to your question is no...this is not the beginning of a new arms race because that is a phrase coined during the cold war. building up stockpiles of weapons/armies is no longer relevant. rather the US and china will continue to compete over the technology of tomorrow while clashing over distant land (proxie wars) or through extremists cause they'd never arrive at a full scale confrontation where conventional arms apply.
Wtf?
Ahhh I didn't think of that. Possibly. If we weren't able to come out with a lot of proof that China wants to attack us.ELITE-UK wrote:

The next arms race ? No i don't think so America is still far too powerful and it wouldn't be a conventional war like invading, it will be fought at a distance as cox's says with technology and i bet a bleak one if it does happen and that's why i don't think it will happen because it would be far too costly for both super powers (that's obviously if china try to get to the same level as America) I'm mean how many nuclear warheads does the us have?

According to wikipedia so a rough idea.
It would be suicide to attack them in the conventional sense now day's that's why i think people think more carefully about starting wars of that magnitude these days because the risk is so much higher for horrific retaliation at no point through history has their ever been a point where some countries can strike almost any where with deadly efficiency.
China might slowly get the edge through time economically but whether they will catch up technologically because unless the US slow down their development i think it will be hard for China to keep up.
Edit: Spacing.

I have no clue that you said there. I understand the second sentence, but the first one has me baffled.Pubic wrote:

Pretty much a nuclear weapon detonated very high in the sky over a nation would act the same way, dont quote me on this though, I heard that when I was 12 or something.icecold2510 wrote:

Everywhere there is extremists, it just so happens that the extremists in China are mostly in their government. They think they are the king of the world. China in Chinese means "Middle Country" if Im not mistaken(I think me and CamPoe got in a argument about that and he said it does).
In actual fact the characters that mean 'China' are "Zhong Guo"

Zhong Guo literally means 'Middle Kingdom'

Alright, thanks for clearing that up, I had the feeling he was right, knows more about other languages then I do. But anyways, the Chinese government likes to say that we(the world) owe them stuff, and we should just keep giving.<BoTM>J_Aero wrote:

No offense, but the Hal Turner show isn't a credible source.Fallschirmjager10 wrote:

Read it all and you will see.
It will be an economic war.
China has lain dormant for centuries and I think it now knows that it can ruin the western economies by undercutting them.
It is embracing capitalism at an alarming rate and doesnt have unions / minimum wage/ health and safety / to worry about.
You do what they say or they shoot you
I worry about the enormous economic potential it has but dont see China getting involved in a conflict readily. It has managed to avoid nearly every war since the thirties
