John Locke: Lost

Tim Burton: Director

Thom Yorke: Radiohead

Scarlett Johannsen

Sawyer

The description said that these pieces take anywhere from 2 hours to 3 and a half hours to complete.  Amazing.  The Thom Yorke one almost looks like a photograph when he is done.

The people that can draw like that on Photoshop use either a tablet PC or a drawing pad.  So theoretically if you  are a good drawer, you can make  a picture like that.  In fact its probably easier on the PC since you can erase and/or go back with no problems.

Drawing on a computer with a tablet is a lot different than just drawing with a pencil (imo). It takes a lot of practice even if you are good with traditional medias.

A very talented artist none the less.

Being an artist i can say this person is good, but for those who don't understand PS painting you are seeing a massive amount of shortcuts. Not only is he looking at a photograph and painting directly from it, he is painting in gray scale and colorizing the image. This is much much much faster than choosing each color from the beginning and being limited to painting in dark to light (such as oils.) I'm curious to see what this person could do from his imagination or at least not a reproduction of a picture.

And I thought I was a good painter... *sigh. He's probably making average income from just doing what he loves.

He has a point, he is using shortcuts, but I think he is still good, being an artist myself. If the program allows you to do it, why not take advantage of it. I happen to like his coloring technique. Given it is easier to work from a photograph than life, I think he would be capable of that as well (I do a lot of figure drawing form life, so I have an idea). And After watching the painting video, I'm pretty sure he is just as good with tradition medias and coloring techniques. I would be interested in learning how to do half of what he does in photoshop... I don't do much digital art myself.

Thats a pretty kickass painting.  I'm sorry I didn't say every type of art there was possible added the word "drawing" but I'll try to hit them all.

So theoretically if you can draw, author, bang out, cast, clef, comp, conceive, contrive, cook up, design, devise, discover, draw up, dream up, fabricate, forge, form, formulate, frame, fudge together, ghost, ghostwrite, imagine, indite, invent, knock off, knock out, make up, note down, orchestrate, originate, pen, poetize, produce, put down, score, scribble, script, shed ink, time, turn out, whip up, write, autography, calligraphy, chicken scratch, chicken tracks, chirography, ductus, fist, griffonage, hand, hieroglyphics, longhand, manuscript, manuscription, mark, pencraft, penmanship, penscript, scratching, scrawl, script, scription, scrivenery, scrivening, style, doodle, inscribe, scrabble, scratch, scribble, and squiggle well, you can make a picture like that.

Am I clear now?

His style looks like a concept artist for a videogame.  The guys who did the God of War concept art used all PC paint programs.

Random, here are some pieces of mine. The ps images are speed paints, 20-50 mins for most. Also, There are incomplete images which I didn't finish. The pencil stuff took longer.  Don't get me wrong about the above guy, he's much better than I am.

hour or so

Have you heard the song "little things" by Bush? I was supposed to illustrate that song. I took a kiss as a little thing that is very powerful, the kiss on his hand is suppose to symbolize the song....pretty out there if u ask me.
