Don't know if this is the right forum, but here goes.
For those have you who have seen the movie 'The Departed', what did you guys think of it?

I found it very hard to follow, and confusing.
Too many hidden relatives, relationships, and too many cast members made it a very confusing movie for me.

What about you guys?

Yeah, lots of shooting, blood, and action, but how do you follow it?

I liked it. I saw it in theateres and it was one of the best movies i've seen in recent days.  The Plot is easy enough to follow

I really enjoyed it I must say and I'm not usually a fan of American remakes of world cinema successes (it was originally a Hong Kong movie called Infernal Affairs). The plot was a little convoluted but not so much that I couldn't follow it. The one thing that was a little far fetched for me was the odds on the two moles meeting and falling in love with the same woman - the original did not attempt this.

I may be biased as I'm Irish and have an interest in Irish American organised crime. Jack Nicholson's character is based on a true gangster who turned out to be an FBI rat and many say was a known paedophile http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Whitey_Bulger

I didn't get it, why that guy killed M. Damon in the end? Couldn't he just arrest him or something?

You all are idiots who couldn't follow the plot. It was the greatest movie i have seen besides Reservoir Dogs and Sin City.

I think he just wanted to kill the sonofabitch for murdering his mate Martin Sheen and dropping Leo in the meat grinder. I wanted him to be arrested and shamed in front of his peers though ...that would've been more satisfying. In the original the Damon character gets away with it scot free!

I bet if we watched it again, we would get it. I was arguing about who was who with my parents too much to really know what was going on

I liked the parts where Matt Damon, Leo DiCaprio, Martin Sheen, Jack Nicholson and all of Jack Nicholson's cronies, and the fat guy from Malibu's Most Wanted died.

Yeah. I had a 14 year old cousin at the house who wouldn't shut her mouth through the whole thing.

"I know him! He was in that movie..."
"SHut the fuck up!"
"Is that his dad?"
"You've seen as much as we have dipshit."

FInally had to snap once I missed something due to her. So note to everyone, watch the movie and shut the fuck up while you do it.

the only reason that movie was slightly tolerable was because it was a remake of a kick ass HK movie.. Scorsese picked as many big name actors as he could to drum up a lil hype.. dont these people ever feel shame for bastardizing and remaking a movie that is only 5 years old.. goes to show how little hollywood really has to offer.. too bad all the actors had painfully horrible irish accents... if you had a hard time following the plot i would assume it's either because you're young or not very smart..

The cinematography and tiny details in the story are great. Im sure the origional is fine and dandy. THis movie was awesome. YOu can always wait for Shrek3. Thats not a remake.
