But for future references, yes applying pressure is the first thing to do. Then apply a clean dressing tied around and secured to the cut/wound. Elevation against gravity helps as well. If it's still bleeding, try to find a major artery or vein leading to the cut and apply pressure there. If it's still bleeding, tourniquet. By that time, you'd pretty much have to lose your finger, limb, or whatever was cut and bleeding. I hope it'll never lead to that. ;D
