Think I can get away with just stealing the cockpit? Think they would miss it?

Couldn't do without it. I use macros for EVERYTHING (I.E Photoshop, 3DS Max or any program that saves steps...The Nostromo N52 is somewhat limited in macros..But still works. BTW, never really used the macros for BF2, I seemed to do ok w/o them.

Very cool project dude! Keep it up.

But seriously... how would you fly decently with the joystick on the right?
And whoever said that modern fighters have it on the right; post picture now because I think it's major bullshit.

I have always been comfortable with it on my right side. BF2 was my first FPS game that I needed a flight stick..So I purchased it right after I got BF2.

BTW....I believe most sticks are in the Middle, and the throttle is on the left. Could be wrong though.

Also...This project with the metal has cost me almost nothing..I had the metal already that I was "going" to build workbenches with...Oh well, keep the good old ones for know.

well i was in the airforce for a week and the f16 had the joystick on the right, the throttle on the left and i seriously doubt that they would make a difference in airplanes, the old planes might have it in the middle i don't know, but modern fighters got it in the right side of the cockpit

Glad to see you're still at it Passuby!  Keep it up!  And for being correct on the placement of the joystick and throttle, who cares, put it where it works best for you!  Well, thanks for the update and new pictures, it's slowly starting to take shape!

nice race bucket seat.
if you had/have lcd screens, you could make a flexible stand for them/it (allows you to move the monitors up/down, left/right)
just a thought   *thumbs up*

Thanks Commandochristian. I agree with you on the placement of the joystick...If I were comfortable in the middle, I probably would have done it there. The main reason for me NOT putting in the middle is due to the steering wheel.

Yes, 3 LCD monitors would be nice..But this is my next project! http://www.inventgeek.com/Projects/Home … rview.aspx

Wait, so for now you'll just have your one aforementioned tv for your custom cockpit, but once you get your cockpit built, you'll play with the single tv, and when not playing, work on this diy projector, which (and here is where the mystery lies) when finished, you will ditch the tv and use your cockpit with the projector?  If so, dang, I wish I had some time, tools, and money to have as much diy fun, and once you're finished with both projects you'll have one hell of a custom gaming station!

If not, dismiss me as a crazy heretic lol :p

Thats pretty much it. Right after I started on this project..I found that projection screen. So, after I complete this one thats what I'm doing. Pretty much go from work and home and that leaves me some time to complete some things. As far as money goes..I have spent but $5.00. (that was for the cut-off blade for my saw.)

Yea Robbie77, I enjoy having my son out out in the shop with me. Reminds me of when I was younger. Thank God for a good dad that taught me little of everything.

Most US fighters developed post Vietnam has a right handed stick and left handed throttle, excepting the F-18E/F, Super Hornet, and the F-15.  This includes the F-16, F-22, and I think the F-35 also features this layout.  I think all European fighters retain the center mount stick, excepting a couple Russian offerings.  I believe the ideology behind the right hand stick is that it provides a control benefit at high G loads.  The main detriment, AFAIK, is that pilots can't switch hands, fly with the left hand and manipulate cockpit goodies with the right, which is mostly a habitual thing anyway.

If you want pictures, go find 'em yourself, you lazy bum
