Weird Fraps sounds.

Alright 1st the problem: Fraps is racist, plain & simple. Well, what I mean is whenever I turn it on in-game I get these crazy ass sound effects that I don't really like. If I had to guess I would say it's every single sound effect put together & it's rather annoying. It happens with headphones, 2.1 speakers & 5.1 speakers.

& here's my system specs if it matters:
CPU: AMD FX-62 2.8GHz (overclocked to 3.02GHz)
GPU: 2x eVga NVidia 8800GTX in SLI
RAM: 4GB Patriot DDR2 800MHz 5-5-5-12 (overclocked to 840MHz)
Mobo: ASUS CrossHair NVidia 590SLI
Audio: Creative X-Fi XtremeGamer 5.1
HDD: 2x 250 Seagate Barracuda's 3Gb/s 7,200 RPM, 8mb Cache in RAID 0
OS: Windows Media Center 2005

& here's what I've done so far: It happened before my last reformat so even that doesn't help, DirectX is up to date, Creative sound card drivers are up to date & have been completely removed/reinstalled anyway just to check, uninstalled/reinstalled Fraps...even tried 2 different versions, physically removed & replaced sound card to make sure it was inserted right, tried to put my audio settings lower & still happens...

Here's what it doesn't do: Fraps records video fine in BF2 so that's not a problem, just the sound. Fraps records video & sound fine in any other game without a problem too

But I do occasionaly get the same problem when watching TV via Media Center if that helps at all...

I know I could have probably posted this in the BF2 help section but I think it's more of a hardware problem & plus this section gets more views then the BF2 help section.....but if any mod like it moved feel free to do so & accept my apoligies in advance.

When I turn it on in-game. so it gets recorded too

Maybe fraps doesnt support your resolution and its tripping because he can't handle it?... just a thought

have you tried installing OLDER versions of drivers instead of newer versions? this sometimes tends to help...

What happens if you tell fraps not to record sound in-game?

Go to the Movies tab in fraps, and make sure it is recording with the right devices.

I'll give that a try right now...definitely sounds promising.
It's recording "what you hear" in the Fraps dialog.

may i ask why you want the soundeffects?
if you wanna make a movie, having a nice tune you dont need no sound from the game itself.

Do you hear the sounds normally when you just play the game? and with fraps the sound is crazy?

ok i have a completly differant interface pannel to what you have

try reseting to defaults see if that helps @ all

also not trying to make you sound stupid but you are setting the speakers to headphones when you have headphones on

also on the

CMSS-3D in game mode do you have the options of MacroFX and ElervationFilter?

What about headphones? Where's that? I know nothing about audio, that's why I posted all those ss's

In CMSS-3D under "upmix mode" i have the options of "Stereo XPand" & "Stereo Surround" & for "upmix" i have "On", "Off" & "Auto"

I tried the "no sound" option in Fraps but I still get the same thing. I tried to select "windows input" in Fraps too but then it autoselects "microphone" for my input & I can't change it.

*Edit:* Reset to defaults, gonna try again.

also try recording fraps @ 1/2 size not full

edit: where it says 5.1 in your Interface click on it and it has a drop down list, choose headphones if its there and apply. ( in the speakers part of the pannel )

edit 2: you have disabled onboard sound on the mobo?

resetting to defaults seems to have worked somehow, I don't think i ever changed anything except the volume though. I still get a few cracks & pops every once in awhile but nothing like before. Will have a try at the size setting in Fraps & the headphones option. Thanks so much for your help.

*Edit:* btw set the volume from 100% to 90% if it matters, I think that might be what did it...

The problem is this, your dual 8800gtx setup is so badass that it causes fraps to orgasm when ran, thats what those sounds are.
