"America is not at war.  The Marine Corps is at war; America is at the Mall."
(Should have added "And the Dems are on the campaign trail.)
Blog on it Here

Is this the reason why things aren't going so swimmingly in the sandbox?  Do you think that if America were to get more serious about the war, that we could finish faster, and thus bring our troops back?  People call for us to pull out, but they are not willing to bite the bullet and commit to create a situation in which we can leave Iraq with something more than a smoldering crater.

This is what I posted on that blog.  I'm sure it's going to be flamed to pieces....

"The comment is true, but the problem isn't that America isn't behind the war morally -- the problem is the war itself. We need to get out. Iraq is not worth dying for."

Americans were not morally behind WWII until Japan attacked the US.

And should they have been?  We entered at a good point in time.

We waited till the Germans had worn out a lot of their forces and until the Japanese began to stretch themselves thin.  In the meantime, we were building up our own military.

We timed our involvement very well.  I can't say the same for Iraq.

How is a war on the other side of the world RELEVANT to America UNLESS we are attacked?

You see what I'm getting at?  We have no right to enter a conflict, unless we are attacked.

Just to clear it up, Germany declared war on the US, not the other way around.

LOL. The concept of the Iraqi army of Saddam Hussein launching an attack on USA is laughable. What were they gonna do - get the ferry from Lisbon?

No.   I bet a backpack would do the trick.

Thankfully that's a minority and the debacle of Iraq means that trust in the US government will be low for the forseeable future, thus making taking such actions again less likely/doable.

Another word for that is "bellicose."

Besides, as long as you have the right domestic defense and security protocols, you can minimize the chance of an attack without firing a single missile.

I'll agree...  We have far too many people in this country who are susceptible to paranoia.

I'd say you weren't worth fighting for, but I took an oath to defend you, and so did all the other living and dead Marines, Airmen, Sailers and Soliders. So don't worry about it, we got your back dumb ass, which leads me to my next thought... I'll say this again, the US Constitution gives you the right to be a moron.
If you knew anything about history you would also remember that over 80% of the American populace thought that the Nazi Party, with Hitler, was a good Ally in Germany in the Late 1930's.

No matter what you say about the war in Iraq, it was morally unacceptable and stupid, Saddam could never have launched an attack on the UK or the US.
