I was damn near broke for years getting all the knowledge and licenses in aviation that I could.  Now I am helping to start (close to launching) a brand new airline.

I'm looking at getting an MBA myself.  Good luck with your wife getting one. 

Considering what you've said about Lancaster, it sounds like you've definitely chosen the right school.

I agree that she should go for it.

It depends on what is her main sector. For example, if shes already studied in engineering, then an MBA, to go up in the company could be usefull. However some employers decide to pay for the MBA studies of the employee, once he has already worked a few years and if the employer trusts him to be a good administrator for example.

But Ive seen some cases where engineers became president of their company without an MBA or any administration courses. Some employers prefer to choose a guy who has got experience in his company instead of choosing someone who has an MBA but has no experience.

IMO, taking MBA courses is a good thing, but once the concerned has already a stable career.

I would suggest that the benefits of an MBA are not worth it for your case.

edit : I have only talked about someone whose sector is completely different, and that wants to go up in the company. It really depends...

An airline that is not certified...but about to be.  = new

Funny you mention Branson.  We are taking two of his Virgin America planes.

Sector works...  "field" is also used in this context.

Now, to be perfectly honest, we are broke. I'm just finishing my teacher training course and she isn't working either. Perfectly, I would want us both to get start graduate jobs in September so financially we would be comfortable. However, we could just probably scrape through on my salary... just.

If you are both recent graduates as you seem to imply, then the MBA is pointless.  Employers look for a number of years work experience before one undertakes a MBA.  In fact i think it's irresponsible for a leading institution like Lancaster to offer a MBA to a relative new graduate.

LBS look for 5, Warwick look for 3 etc.  After my bachelors i applied to do an MBA (Durham University Business School) and after the stopped laughing at me they informed me i was better suited to the MA in Management.  There you have it, first hand experience.

Get a job, make some money, pay off your debts, then think about an MBA i.e. get your future employer to pay for your it, as your should have progressed to a reasonable senior role for a MBA to be beneficial at the juncture in time.

Basically, making sure the planes do not fall out of the sky.  (Maintenance, mechanics, parts, engines, etc)
