Ha ha, trick question. The US has no allies anymore.
If we keep invading countries, we surely won't.san4 wrote:

they are never around or are generally incompetent when i do need them
and deary me what country can i apply that to...i really can't think of a country that i can compare that too...8-)
(before anyone at all mentions a world war with any form of number i say Falklands as a 'pre-emptive strike' against such arguments)
This is just like how the U.K. won't tell us what the Challenger 2 armor is made of.

Now correct me if I'm wrong, but Malaysia is reasonably friendly with Australia and has fought Indonesia in the past...Malaysian Emergency? Five power defence agreement? You know, that thing how if Malaysia or Singpore were attacked they'd get help from each other, and the UK, NZ and Australia? That sort of thing builds up a lot of goodwill, and I doubt Malaysia would attack Australia...
That said, Australia gives the US a base...sends its troops over to Iraq/Afghanistan, heres Australia on the doorstep of the worlds mosts populous Muslim nation, an ally of Iran (the US's arch-enemy) and the US is saying no? And they were originally going to sell a cut-down F-35?
Some US allies have turned their backs on the US, yes, but Australia isn't exactly Iran...how much do you think the US and Australia have in common?

Well, to illustrate the purposes of ally non-permanence, Iran was at one point a US ally.
what about us? as if we would attack you, we have like 70 000 people in our army, we may be aussie but were not stupid.UGADawgs wrote:

Consider that the governments of Australia and the United States have probably already made an arrangement in regards to the F-22, and just aren't sharing it with the press...which is the planet's most effective propaganda machine.
We'd still be happy US allies if the US would respect our anti-nuclear laws...

Israel has the most experienced Air Force in the world...... they would be better than the US, except for we have more technologyKmarion wrote:
Pretty impressive when you consider the performance of the F-15. I bet we give some to the Israeli's so they can show us the proper way to fly them..lol. Israeli pilots are bad asses, they come over to train our pilots.Immobile Sniper wrote:

In simulations, even with of a handicap of an inexperienced pilot against a superior one, even the vaunted F-15,the best pure dogfighter ever built, has NO CHANCE against a Raptor. They've simulated it every way they can think of,and the F-15 loses every time. The funny thing is,in real-world air combat, nothing has ever come close to the F-15. It has a record of 99-0 in documented dogfights. Even with odds of 4-1,we've never lost an American piloted F-15 due to air-to-air fire. Why do you think the MiG's and Su's look so much like the F-15? It's been well-documented that Russia was notorious for stealing designs, and in some cases, entire planes. The show also said the entire fleet of 257 Raptors cost the American tax-paying public 78 BILLION,roughly 40 mill each. Tommy D.
even though you are our ally, you still have to understand that with all the enemys the US has, we need to be extra careful...... its not that we think you are stupid or dont trust you, we just dont want any technology leaking to our enemys one way or another<<<FTDM>>>Gen.Raven wrote:

Did we ever sell stealth aircraft? F-117, SR71, B2? I don't think so, could be wrong. Why would we start now?
If you Aussies want a bad ass plane so bad then make one. Your government collects about the same percentage of taxes from income/etc right? Ours spends a majority of it on stupid shit like planes that won't be used before they're outdated. We're selfish; we paid for it. It's like making the fastest car on earth to break a speed record, why the fuck would you sell it to someone else once you built it?

I was under the impression that if our contract for the Joint Strike Fighter fell through we had the option of purchasing the F22 Raptors....
oh well - im happy with either. its about time our airforce got an upgrade
to the above graph - how does anyone accurately know how much China spends on their military?

But why do we always upgrade to the USA's outdated models?Iron_Sentinel wrote:

how about you don't edit the part of my quote that says we spend the majority of it on military shit so you can post a graph disproving the part you didn't remove?Kmarion wrote:
Aside from actually seeing them train our guys here at Macdill AFB (Macdill now is an Air refueling wing). Kidding. Really.
Cause they can't afford them ?
Maybe Australia should buy some Su-35s as well?
You mean the 37 right? Curious does it employ stealth characteristics also?Pubic wrote:

Make your own fucking plane.
Guess who makes the F-22? The US of A government?some random from that deleted post wrote:

Lockheed Martin!
Do you know who they are?
Lockheed Martin is the world's largest defense contractor!
Do you know how much it cost to make?
US$70 billion!
That would take over 5 years of all of Australia's Defence budget.
Make our own plane?... lol.
It really doesn't matter what happens, the RAAF will be facing difficult times in the next 10 years. Our F-111's will be retiring and the replacement F-35 are now delayed. We might have to rent some Super Hornets or figure something else out.
Or we could buy some Raptors...
MCminty.
Hey why don't you lease us some land for a base? That would bring some cash in..lolmcminty wrote:
