I was walking to school, and some dude hands me a brochure on "Don't Die in a Dead-End Job! Information for young people thinking about the military"

He then proceeds to talk to me about the "certain death" that awaits those "dummy" children that join the Armed Forces. I laughed in his face.

I proceed to tell him about the sacrifices that soldiers make every day to insure that he and his gang of anti-war propaganda peoples can do what they do.

So I do my whole yelling argument, using big words... yadda yadda.

More to the point, should recruiters and anti-war hippies alike be allowed on school grounds?

Recruiters should. There are tons of benefits of serving in the military. For example, they will pay for your college.

I know fine well how my rights were delivered to me - by my ancestors beating the Brits out of my country. I'm well aware of the necessity of a military to preserve our freedoms and liberties. I just think politicians need to use their militaries properly - for defence, not futile attacks a la Vietnam, Iraq, etc. It will be obvious to everyone when a fight is just and necessary and in defence of their fundamental freedoms - even the most liberal hippy in the country will pick up a rifle when they realise that it's time. You're right - people need to volunteer for the army to keep the numbers strong - it's just a pity that politicians are misusing armies and deterring people from joining.

None of them should. Kids go to school for education, not to hear someones opinion on military enlistment or anti-war movements. They aren't doing shit if they don't graduate.

Both groups are seizing the opportunity of parents not being around and being able to talk to the kid without outside hinderance. You get some EMO smuck who hates his parents with a anti-war/recruiter talking slick, congrats, you just signed up a potential suicide.

The school teachers aren't to express thier opinion on such matters, these groups shouldn't be allowed on campus.

Most schools offer some sort of ROTC program so if kids are truly interested, they can start there. Otherwise, both groups need to stop using schools as mass grounds for thier recruitment.

The only reason that the US fights is to put money in the pockets of 'defense' contractors who put money back in the pockets of politicians. They have to have someway of justifying their staggering and ever swelling 'defense' budget. If there was no war going on, wouldn't it be in the best interests, financially speaking, for 'defense' contractors to help fabricate one so that the US could spend billions on ordnance to kill Koreans/Vietnamese/Muslims/whoever looks like an easy target. Do yourself a favor and read 1984, that's a book by the way.

Here is a fact. You guys can talk about what you want, but I will inject some FACT.

When you join the military, certain freedoms and rights are given up. Joining means you sacrifice those rights for various reasons, but it indirectly protects the freedoms and rights of people who do not join since they will not be forced to go.
