Although I'm the son of immigrant parents myself and believe that people should retain at least some of their original culture, this is pretty much out of hand. It really doesn't make sense to endanger/infringe another's rights/life (Knives at school?) to please another group. Although I don't truly believe in full assimilation, I think that immigrants should make somewhat of an effort to try and combine both cultures.
I agree completely, I know some Swedish muslims who are completely awesome, their lifestyle amazes me.Smithereener wrote:

Respect to those who manage to mix the cultures into a nice blend of the two.
Maybe in Canada they could. If they were to riot in America they would get pwnd big time by civilians. People don't like it when you F with their car and we are all armed. Kinda cuts down on a lot of riots and that is why when ghettos riot they always stay in their neighborhood and destroy their things is so they don't get shot in the burbs trying to dick with peoples stuff.BALTINS wrote:

Not a perfect system, but it works for us Americans.
It is the woman's right to practice her religion how she wants. If part of her religion is for her to be stoned then who are we to judge and take that away from her. What are you gonna do next, ban Christians from helping the poor.
I would suggest that if people don't want to be stoned they should probably not be part of a religion that stones a person. eh?
Sure, just don't do it in Hérouxville.
I've followed these cases since their inception, particularly the Supreme Court decision regarding the kirpan. To these, I have protested strongly, through media and other sources, but there is a lot of support for the kirpan decision.
Simply, I believe that no culture should impose on any other one, including the culture of the majority of Canadians upon newer citizens. Secular decisions should trump any religious conflicts. If a Sikh wishes to wear a turban instead of an RCMP hat, then let it be. It is causing no harm. But, if a Sikh wishes to bring a knife, or kirpan, the ceremonial dagger, to school, then it is causing concern, because it infringes upon other Canadians' rights to safety. It infringes upon basic school safety rules.
In Canada, the flourishing of numerous cultures due to offical multiculturalism has worked. I have never had any culture imposed upon me, and never imposed my culture upon someone else. True, there are discrepancies, such as the kirpan, or a ban on Sunday shopping in Nova Scotia, but we must work to avoid these things.

If they don't like it they can look the other way.usmarine2007 wrote:

Malloy must go
Because obviously the women in Sharia cases "choose" to be stoned...Major_Spittle wrote:

Stoning people for adultery or whatever is completely barbaric and I would really give up hope for America if they ever allowed Sharia law to pass such judgment here.
Stupid Mofo threes a difference between Sikh people and f***in terrorists, if your gonna think of em like that well your screwed cuz there populating North America fast. Infact Sikhs have been victims of terrorism by Muslims in the 1600's there not like THAT. Do you know how many Sikh people died for other people? They saved the lives of so many Hindus. If you want me to go on I will but I'm getting tired, so....BALTINS wrote:

killing people = bad
coming to another country and demanding that people conform to your beliefs and way of life = bad
