No sound

Alright, my bf2142 works just fine every step of the way, then the moment i click 'exit game' i get absolutely no sound at all from the computer except for when i reboot 2142 and click buttons. But i can't close 2142 and then switch to bf2, or as is more often the case i can't get onto vent after my dad plays 2142 without restarting the computer which, although it is easy to do, it is an annoying and relatively time consuming thing to do

so any help?
