I think it will be great until they do something to make it "Better" but it will end up screwing half the Microsoft users all over the world.
What do you think?
He sounds like the Windows Setup slides
Windows Just Got Better!
The Easiest Windows Yet!
The Most Secure Windows Ever!
Do More In Less Time
Time remaining: 8 hours, hell make it 10 to be safe, eh?

My state was founded by Batman. Your opinion is invalid.
Actually Bill never actually "made" an OS himself. He stole the first, which he used to make the first and second Windows and after that he had enough money to hire people to write shit for him.Miller wrote:

I can totally freeze any Vista machine in 60 seconds using nothing but preinstalled tools and applications. There is some very bad coding in some of the new image preview related features in explorer. It just freezes the screen and mouse cursor for at least 16 hours (that's how long I left it frozen to test it out) with the disk thrashing at full speed.... it doesn't actually bluescreen or crash, so there isn't a chance to get any exploit code running. I'd tell Microsoft, but given that IE was exposed to known, unpatched vulnerabilities that had available exploits for 284 days of the last year I doubt they'd have time to worry about something as annoying as a total system freeze. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2007/01/05/ie_unsafe/
This isn't totally off-topic but, Microsoft's stocks are down -0.05 / 0.16%. Apple's stock is down -0.39 / 0.45%...
Pretty bad since Microsoft JUST released a new OS...

Well,
Vista has to be more secure than XP if you follow the MAC logic.
The fewer users, the fewer viruses.
Number of users
XP > Vista > Mac
Number of viruses
XP > Vista > Mac
How do I just love to cut the Gordian knot.
As for speed of the vista: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/29/xp-vs-vista/
The user friendlyness: http://www.tomshardware.com/2007/01/23/ … ows_vista/

That benchmarking link doesn't seem to work in the UK... when I click it, it redirects to the UK site and the article is on a different URL so it 404's. In the UK if it doesn't work, try this:
http://tomshardware.co.uk/2007/01/30/xp-vs-vista-uk/

Lol, comparing a 10.4 OSX on a PowerPC processor to an x86 Windows Vista. Well, I can make those kind of comparisons too.=Robin-Hood= wrote:

I would just like to inform everyone here, that a friend of mine that lives 3 floors above me at school is a CS major and the CS majors at out school have access to a special microsoft software database where they can download microsoft products for free and get them before everyone else. Well, he called me in last week to show me his new PC running Vista: Business.
Without ANY programs running and on default settings, Vista was using 1/3 of his 1.7 GB of RAM.
WAIT FOR SP1 BEFORE YOU BUY!

The cavalry has arrived.
Hey the whole thing is a users based story not a benchmark, anyways it has a happy-mac ending:
Darn them iMAC homiesSo I decided to switch again. From Vista, back to the Mac — to the brand new, white MacBook on which I told this story.

I've had it through the MSDN for a while too, been running it as my main OS at work for a couple of months, and it does actually a much nicer graphics API which means that beautiful desktop apps aren't very tricky to code. You can use the glass over the entire application window if you really feel like it. But I don't know if it's worth it, since they could have added that to XP if they really wanted.Elamdri wrote:

As for the memory footprint, I doubt SP1 is gonna fix that... not unless they take all the crap they put in out again. The memory consumption is a feature
And at the same time, I can't send links with the letters "PHP" in it over MSN. Reversed progress on MS's part. Anti-piracy policies will doom the versatility of the PC, even for those who wouldn't know a skull & crossbones from a dead skunk.Miller wrote:

As for the growing efficiency of Windows PC's, I have a 3.11 rig set aside for word processing, because it gets things done faster and uses less system resources.

ooh, should have specified, I didn't mean SP1 would fix the memory issue, I meant that you should wait till SP1 to get rid of some bugs.UON wrote:

Memory issues can be solved by turning off the new features, like 3d browsing and real-time alt tabbing, but if you do that, your just running a suped up version of XP.
Lol and here was me reading your link and thinking it's time to buy a new operating system. Until I read what the prices in Europe are that is. LMAO!
Vista Ultimate Edition:
US - $378.99
UK - £353.99
Germany - €519.99

Yeah - he is generous and caring sometimes but others he doesn't know what to say.
He is a geek way above his head in money, almost drowining in it.
I believe this is portrayed in "The Simpsons"
EVEN BETTER!! IT'S FRENCH!
