For some reason the lag on SF is really, really bad, and I have no idea why. BF2 is alright as I have dome some of them lag reducer tips but I don't know how to do them for SF, I would change the name of the SF.exe but I don't know where that is, and I would disable the movie clips at the start for SF, but I don't know where the SF ones are either. Sorry if the answer is obvious but could someone help me as I don't have a lot of computer knowledge.

Also, when I go to log into my account, on BF and SF a little text box pops up telling me to install this "NVIDIA" thing. So, I went to install it but halfway through the instillation it said, "Windows recommends you to not install this" or something like that, so I didn't. Does anyone think I should? Will it reduce the lag?

Sorry if I'm not to clear.

load up SF to where u go to single player/multiplayer that screen then alt+tab out then ctrl+alt +delete then to processes find the bf2.exe process Or bf2Sf.exe or whatever it is right click on it set priority to high

or turn all your settings to low with view distance 100% and dont play on 64 player servers
or get a new computer

I dunno, I have a similar problem. I have the Delixe Edition and can play the Vanilla BF2 with no problems on all high settings, but when ever I go to play SF my screen gets real jerky almost unplayable.
I'm sure its not my rig I have:
2gig Corsair XMS
ATI Radeon x800
3.2ghz pentium Extreme Edition processor

Jeez, of course it will.  They're the drivers from nVidia.  You need to install them.  Windows has that little "Unsigned Drivers" thing with any driver you install.  Always click "Continue Installation."

I have the same exact problem, BF runs flawlessly but SF is super choppy.  It doesnt matter how low my ping is on a SF server it is still laggy.  Certainly someone out there can give us some advice, cant they?

ive posted the exact same topic here a while ago....
meaning i had the exact same problem as u do....

i was told to update drivers of my ATI 9200 card but i had allready done so.

i just went to the computer store, spent 60€ and bought me a better card.

SF runs great now! i always play it ever since (though i can find only a few good servers thru xfire)

Well it does seem odd to me that people that can run BF2 flawlessly on all high, like me, should be told to upgrade our PC because SF lags. Especially if SF has the same requirements. There must  be something else to it

This is an ongoing issue with BF2SF. In fact, there was once a post around with a poll that asked why people play BF2 over BF2SF. The number one choice was worded something like "Laggy and slow load times."

I don't know what changed in the coding, but it is a SF issue, not a problem with your computer. I have an Intel Core 2 Duo E6400, 7900GT Video Card, 2 gigs Corsair Dominator 800MHz Ram, all on a 680i board... Yet I still see really bad lag bursts on occasion on SF that I never see on BF2 Vanilla.

I personally think it is a memory leak on the server side. Usually when it starts getting laggy, it gets laggy for everyone I am playing with, and then the server ends up going down. After it comes back up, it is no longer laggy.

When 4 friends across the country see the exact same lag spikes, it is not a problem on your side...
