Never thought I would say this but.......ROCK ON TED KENNEDY!!
I always had the assumption that he was a douche. Guess I was wrong.

I don't understand why we can't let the Job market dictate wages. Unemployment is at historic lows. There are plenty of job opportunities. Can't the employee decide who he wants to work for? If an employer is not paying enough just go down the street and work for they guy that is. That will force them to increase wages/benefits. This is just an area I would not like to see government interference.
Wow, very convincing.ATG wrote:

Yes because similar jobs don't tend to pay the same, right? If I work as a dishwasher, I can go down the street and make more as a dishwasher there? Wrong.Kmarion wrote:

It's much simpler than that. When a Job market is doing as well as ours is and unemployment is so low employers are forced to offer incentives to keep/hire employees. Don't screw with the economy when it is doing great.Canin wrote:
How about not limiting yourself to washing dishes? Try learning something else, like prep work or line cook. Then , if your current employer is not paying satisfactorily, go down the street to the next place, and with your new skills, make more money. Unless, of course, you think the government should regulate the amount of pay someone gets for spraying off dishes and pushing a rack into a machine.....

Are you suggesting I explain to you the many ways in which TK is a douchebag?JimmyBotswana wrote:

He has his moments...and for the record, the minimum wage should be raised.Cougar wrote:

It's not about personal achievement. Even if "you" decided to become something more than a dishwasher, someone else has to come in and fill in. The point is, there will always minimum wage jobs. Minimum wage worked 10 years ago, but today $5.xx is not that much and it definitely is not enough to make a living on.Canin wrote:

People who make a lot of money deserve tax breaks. If it wasn't for their hard work, there would not be a place to wash the dishes at.Cougar wrote:
If you are cool with that, you are obviously a rich cocksucker yourself.

But they already have money. They can survive without tax breaks. People on minimum wage cannot survive on it.usmarine2007 wrote:

Maybe Ted could give up his pay raise?ghettoperson wrote:

Everyone deserves a tax break, everyone being the key word. When the only people who receive noticeable tax-breaks over a 8 year period, then something is wrong.usmarine2007 wrote:

However it happens I don't care. I know nothing of the guy except for that video.usmarine2007 wrote:

How old are you? Seriously?Canin wrote:
I believe for the most part that everyone has the ability to do more, learn more, and be better. The problem is that this country is riddled with laziness. The Government hands out so freaking much that people think they deserve it and find no reason to improve themselves on their own. Minimum wage is for entry level positions. I have worked my butt off to get where I am, and make what I make. I made minimum wage when it was 3.85 a hour, and that was bagging groceries and stocking shelves. People shouldn't be making 10.00 a hour at an entry level job. If they keep raising minimum wage, the standard cost of living will go up, and then people who earn what they have worked hard to earn will not bring home enough to cover their bills. What happens then? The Government should regulate what everyone makes? Or take what everyone makes and then distribute it back evenly to every person of working age? Yeah, somehow I don't see that working so well.....
Well your about the dumbest 32 year old I've ever met. You're missing the point!!!Canin wrote:
Im 32. I dont see how that has any affect on my opinion. Oh, and as far as noticable tax breaks go, how are you going to notice a tax break when if you are married, or single, and supporting children on minimum wage, you are effectively not paying any taxes in?? You cant give tax breaks to people who dont pay taxes in the first place.
