I'd like to see how the neo-con spin doctors manage to sell this "threat" to the American people, knowing what happened the last time they tried selling a war based on false information.

To quote one of your great leaders: "There's an old saying in Tennessee — I know it's in Texas, probably in Tennessee — that says, fool me once, shame on — shame on you. Fool me — you can't get fooled again." (http://politicalhumor.about.com/library … olbush.mov)

And which countries will be used as a backup this time? UK again? Australia maybe?

Anyway, more meat to the grinder.

I know where you 'heard that song before' - when Iraq was refusing to cooperate fully with weapons inspectors. Just as well the US stepped in to confiscate all of their weapons of mass destruction. They were a real threat. Blair said that they could have struck western Europe within 45 minutes!! GG US for saving the day.

What's funny is that they go on and on about how the UN does nothing, when if they did enforce the sanctions the US' closest ally would lose the most.  Further, if they enforce treaties, the US would be one of the biggest losers.

Hey we are trying to rebuild Iraq from the ground up dude. . .not an easy task!

Its not like Saddam left us much to work with anyway btw. . .he hogged all resources to himself and his associates.

And if we attack Iran, we arent in there for another "nation building mission", we are there to kick their ass!

So if we leave that joint a shithole, I frankly could care less. . .They are PURPOSELY trying to harm Americans in Iraq, kill Jews in Lebanon, not too mention acquire nukes, and support global terrorism!  I believe if any country should have been attacked by now, it should have been Iran! not Iraq! Saddam is a prick, and I am glad he's gone, but Iran clearly was and is the bigger threat to global security.

They need to be brought down to size, and the only country with any balls to stand up and commit is the USA (maybe Israel if provoked enough).  Europe has a big bark, but eventually puts their tail between their legs and runs home! Europe wont want to fuck with Iran cause they dont want Iran to unleash Hezbollah all over Europe (which they will do if they threaten Iran with military force).

p.s. speaking of no balls. . .the UN is an empty suit.

The war is still going. You win a war when you have control of the country you are at war with not when Bush stands on a ship and says so. You win when your solders stop getting killed every day. There is no victory in Iraqi and there wont be anytime soon.

Screw it, let them have their toys.  And lets see how long it takes to liberals to tuck their tails and run when Iran shakes it's angry fist.

We really should step out of this one, let the world see that GWB did the right thing with the POTENTIAL threat that Iraq made.

Let the rest of the world deal with this one.   Let them sweat it out for a while.

Iraq surrendered 3 years ago, I don't think it's much of a war, but an occupation.

Yes its an occupation, but Iraq surrendered?  We found the leader hiding in a fucking hole.  There is a difference.

I am quite sure we already have special forces inside Iran.  That is enough as far as I am concerned.

The Iranian Government is much too smart to start a war over there.  Like I have said plenty of times before, Ahmadinejad is simply trying to give Iran some legitimacy on the global stage.  He is saying and doing minor things that create a stir from our foreign policy standpoint, but there is nothing to worry about.  I would be more worried about the European/Chinese economy crushing the out-of-control US economy than an attack from Iran with nuclear weapons.

Iran: Israel, US will soon die

Ahmadinejad has threatened the State of Israel with annihilation several times in recent months, and has recently added the US and Britain to the list of countries he says will be destroyed.

Ahmadinejad... you silly bitch.

Israel and the United States will soon be destroyed, Iran's President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad said Tuesday during a meeting with Syria's foreign minister, the Islamic Republic of Iran Broadcasting (IRIB) website  said in a report.

Keep it up and he is going to piss Jack Bauer off.

Ahmadinejad is an attention whore.  He sometimes says things that are so crazy it pisses the Ayatollah off.

Still I think Khamenei gets off on his remarks though.  Ahmadinejad is probably just saying things that Khamenei wishes he could do.

Please do. Go and find me an instance were I insult someone who hasn't insulted me first.

You on the other hand spout insults every time you can't formulate a proper argument.................which is most of the time. You then go and delete said insults when you get insulted back so counter insults look unfounded. Again quite childish. If you can't stand behind your insults then why write them in the first place?

Would the UN like to enforce their sanctions this time?
well, the answer to that is simple. Yes, if they have the full support of all of its members, especially those in the Security Council. Quite obviously, this would include the US.

The UN makes decisions based on a global concensus, as represented by the general assembly, or the SC.
If there is no concensus reached, no action can be taken. It's really as easy as that.

As far as I know, there is serious doubt even among the top US military commanders if an invasion of Iran can be successfully conducted by US forces alone.

If that is true, I think it would be absolutely vital for the US to work towards reaching a concensus on Iran
in the UN with the ultimate goal of gettting a resolution that allows military action, so you can get some support from other UN members.

Iran allows 162 nuclear inspectors on a United Nations list enter the country. These inspectors are there to ensure that Iran is not attempting to make nuclear arms. These inspections will been carried out under suspected violation of the Nuclear Non-proliferation Treaty, which the US has in no way been in repeated violation of since its creation in 1968.

Suddenly the story doesn't sound as good does it?

By "Iran shakes it's angry fist" I mean Iran actually taking action against someone it's nutjob leader has declared an enemy.

As for pursuing the countries you've listed:
North Korea - we've been there before, let the UN do it's thing there too
China - needs us economically, and are actually a pretty stable country/government
Russia - a good ally when we've really needed them (think both WWs)
The rest - when they gain nuclear capabilities we'll discuss them

As for your statement "There is a big difference between talking tough and actually doing something.", the US could say that about every other country that cried about the atrocities that were happening in Iraq while Saddam was in power.

"GWB is full of shit.  Total and utter failure" - That's your opinion, guess you're entitled to it.
