Mind if I ask a question?usmarine2007 wrote:

Am i correct to assume you don't have a gun because you feel that the number of gun toting (Muslim, black white, whatever) people who will attack you is a minority and the authorities are doing as much as they can to prevent you from having to fear them?
Well, I keep a pitching wedge behind my door and one of those big ass mag lights under my bed, so with a little luck, that may protect me at home.....or not. As for being out in public, I ALWAYS look to see where alternate exits are. Police can only do so much, hell my sister is an FBI agent, but that does not make me feel more or less safe.crimson_grunt wrote:

Yeah same here at a much smaller level, you keep your wits about you and watch for threats (although the threats i watch for a gangs of white youths) but for the most part you know the street is not going to blow up in your face and your sure as hell not going to let fear stop you going to the shop etc?usmarine2007 wrote:

Well thats simply why were saying were not more concerned with the Muslim thing. Yes we may keep our eyes open for anything suspicious but no more than we would if say a bunch of guys were loitering by a bank. CCTV in the uk may be fucking ridiculous but it caught those London bombers so at least we know were being watched over as much as possible and the lessons learned by the police on 9/7 (don't shoot innocents etc) means they have better idea what to look for.
Schuss baby. . .
There are terrorists running Syria right now. . .Hamas is a terrorist organization that got fucking elected in Palestine. . . what r you talking about?? Iran is run by terrorists too!! Terrorists are very active in the political process! For christs sake, Muqtada al-Sadr wants to be the grand ayatollah of Iraq!!! BTW what "terrorist activities" have we been involved in? I mean this is all up to ones "interpretation", but jesus christ are you really gonna go there. . .USA a terrorist state? thats insulting. . .
LOL what tactics are the Europeans using to fight terror??!! All I have seen is appeasement after appeasement, concession after concession. Why didnt you guys join us in Afghanistan to your fullest extent? If Iraq is quote "illegal" in your eyes, what the fuck is Afghanistan, a paint ball match??. . .cmon!
The invasion was not illegal. . .the man violated EVERY term of the surrender agreement in 91'. If you know your history, those documents (Saddam's government signed) allowed the USA to act with force if necessary if those terms were not abided by!! NOT only was the USA allowed to use force, but EVERY member of the coalition who invaded as well!!!
So Germany and France stuck by the laws/code of the international community huh. . .hmm you might want to rethink that argument, cause in case you didnt know those two countries were doing "back end" deals with your boy Saddam which they said and signed they wouldnt do.
An example of Europe's lack of action/concession. . .how bout pulling out troops in fear of being re-attacked (thanks Italy and Spain!). There is no commitment whatsoever, your countries would rather watch us go at it alone, and take verbal pot shots at us. That is what you are doing. . . THAT IS YOUR TACTICS for dealing with terrorism! Sympathize with them, and talk shit about us!! Am I at all wrong with that assumption as an American? cmon. . .

And PS faded - Germany were not doing 'back end deals', France was; and Europe did back the US in Afghanistan to it's fullest extent (it is a NATO mission after all). Come to mention it the US only suplied 20,000 troops for a mission in a country several times the size of Iraq over which they still have no control and Osama Bin Laden is still at large. /failorama

Just explain to me how any of us are proposing appeasing Islamic extremism. Please state in clear unambiguous terms.usmarine2007 wrote:

What is Ireland doing to try and prevent acts of terror?CameronPoe wrote:

It has improved its border security and special branch is monitoring Imams and activities at all Mosques. Na Garda SuĂochana are also co-operating with Interpol and intelligence agencies to track those deemed to possibly represent a threat to national, European and US security. The houses of those suspected of extremist activities are sporadically and habitually raided.usmarine2007 wrote:

PS You responded to my question with a question, not an answer.

Besides which, not preventing it is not the same as appeasement..........................
Some people on here think leaving Iraq would stop all the insurgent attacks. Some people say because the US is involved in many operation world wide, that is why we (and our allies) are attacked. They claim that if we just pulled out of every country we are in, terrorism would stop.CameronPoe wrote:

If there was a terror attack in Ireland by a group traced to lets say Indonesia, what would Ireland do in your opinion?
Which people? I'm not aware of any who feel that.usmarine2007 wrote:

Yep. As a very powerful nation who frequently uses that power, you attract alot of attention.usmarine2007 wrote:

Again, which people?usmarine2007 wrote:

Irrelevant in the context of Iraq, as Iraq had not link to the attacks on the US which sparke the War on Terror. In fact, so far as I'm aware, the only stuff they're known or proven to be involved in was Palestenian nationalist terrorism.usmarine2007 wrote:

Duh. But in the example for Ireland, which is not in the same paragraph, I am not talking about Iraq, and I think Cam can see that.Bubbalo wrote:

The US presence in Iraq is causing lots of bloodshed. If the US left Iraq hell would break lose. This is total and utter shambolic situation and good luck to the people who are trying to solve it. Seriously, how do you solve a lose/lose situation.
The number of Terrorism attacks would maybe drop slighty if the US actually did something about its foreign policy but who knows, you've pissed off that many people the attacks would probably continue out of sheer hatered.
