2. Naughty country is hated within the Muslim world
3. Psycho preacher(s) remembers last line above above paragraph
4. Psycho preacher(s) interprets psycho Jihad which perpetually motivates extremists
5. Psycho jihad is crazy ass destructive
6. Naughty country blames Jihad
See how this started? You only add fuel to the Psycho preachers fire with ill thought out endeavors. You can blame Jihad all you want, but unless you go wwwwwwaaaayyyyyy back to root causes and deal with foreign perception, psycho Jihad is here to stay.

You are Muslim, you speak for yourself and Islam, nothing else.
This makes me think of another thing, if you are a witness and bearing testimony in court, and you have to "swear by the bible" but if you're atheist, then what?
Actually the Greater Jihad is the inner struggle to be a good person and attain spiritual understanding of the universe. The lesser jihad is the struggle to defend yourself and your faith.Fen321 wrote:

Which Jihad is beheading those who don't pray to Mecca five times a day?jonsimon wrote:

At least ETA have a legitimate cause, although their methods of achieving their goal are way out of line.
I was raised Catholic and not once was any other religion put down or cast as evil, NEVER. One of the things taught that I remember the most was the parable of the good Samaritan.ATG wrote:

So then, every minority group in every country has a legitimate right to become seperate from the mother country?CameronPoe wrote:

I'm no expert on the ETA, mind you, but why is their cause legit again?
Yeah the Vatican was pretty relaxed about heretics during the Spanish Inquisition and the Crusades. The Old Testament doesn't even mention righteous war either, come to mention it.rawls2 wrote:

PS I was raised Catholic and several allusions were made to the fact that Protestantism and other religions were in fact wrong and evil.

Have you ANY idea about the Basque Country, it's UNIQUE language, culture, genealogy and history? Read and learn. The Basques are one of the oldest ethnic groups in the WHOLE of Europe. Their language cannot be traced to any other existing European language meaning it must have existed before the Aryans spread from the Caucasus. They have autonomy but they want complete independence. Why won't Spain give it to them? Because it's an economical powerhouse. The Basques were persecuted for long enough under Francisco Franco: when Spain freed themselves from that dictator they should have allowed the Basque Country to go its separate way. And yes - I have been to the Basque Country and spoken to ordinary Basques about their plight...ATG wrote:

k read when I get home. Hugs.
What does that mean in today's terms? Does that mean we should continue to let islam be violent because Christianity used to be. I would hope not. Should I dismiss the wonderful teachings of Christianity because it was used as a tool in your countries struggle for independence?CameronPoe wrote:

The point of irony I found in the OP is that this elected official tried to point out that Jefferson must have been a truly enlightened to have a Koran/Quran in his possession, gleaning knowledge from a variety of sources. Up to that point, a really good sentiment and don't get me wrong...I think that is what a truly enlightened person would do.
However, I think (if this history is accurate) the irony is in the fact that this was not the case at all and the elected official better do some reading of history himself....
"Hey, Mein Furher...I see you're reading the Torah...You really ARE a good person."

Thank you for taking the time to understand and read a long post.462nd NSP653 wrote:

No, it's not... thank you once again Bubbalo for laying it down plain and simple.Bubbalo wrote:
The Quran is not a "book of jihad".
A book of Jihad would mean that it's entirely about waging war on other religions. That is NOT what the Qur'an is about. I mean, the bible has the Crusades in it... that's as much of a "Jihad" as any war presented in the Qur'an. The terrorists who are waging wars on Christianity and other major religions are not your average Muslims. They are extremist groups, corrupted by money, oil, power, weapons, and through a very twisted form of suicide, sex and glory. These terrorists are monsters... as far as this liberal is concerned, we SHOULD be combating terrorism with MORE troops than we are now.
However... 99 percent of the world's Muslims are very peaceful, very sane, and as normal as ANYONE ELSE... the Qur'an teaches these values. This 1 (or less) percent who wages this war are a disgrace to their religion.
Every religion has people like this, but due to our setting, they may not act out in ways that terrorists do.
The person who sent me the Karma message from the other thread, for instance... they seemed to want me dead just as much as the "terrorists" wanted him dead...
Because these terrorist groups are all underground organizations that get by on dirty money and live without a home, the only reality they may know is that of violence. A kid who is sheltered in the USA who does not know violence in the way they do will act completely different, but put in their position, he may act as they do.
Care to quote that particular passage?djphetal wrote:

Christianity still IS violent. I'm not going to go off into my whole argument about religion, but anyone who thinks that you will burn in hell for eternity for not thinking the way they do is just plain wrong.rawls2 wrote:

I do not support Christianity more than Islam
I do not support Islam more than Christianity
I do not support any other religion more than any other religion.
This is because all religions are essentially the same.
