Dang, stole the words right from my mouth! Yeah, seriously though, if you want an excellent first car, one that you can be sure of it's reliability and economic feasibility, go with a Honda Civic. The cheapest is the basic Civic sedan, a little over $15 K, and if you want to spend a little more you can upgrade to a more luxurious model, get a coupe instead of a sedan, or if you have ~ $22 K you can get a sporty Civic, aka Civic Si, as either a coupe or sedan. On a side note, I personally have had my eye on the Civic Si Sedan for a long time now, since it was a concept! Nonetheless, check out Honda's site:jsnipy wrote:

I agree though, you probably will be wanting a used car as a first car generally is one you learn of what not to do with a new car with, and as you are in Canada, you might want AWD/4WD as Im_Dooomed suggested. But out of his entire post, I couldn't agree more with him in that you WILL want to learn to drive a manual, whether or not it's a 5-speed. Chicks dig it, and it doesn't limit your buying selection to automatics, because there are a lot of good cars out there that are manual, so yes, "get to it" and learn to drive manual! You won't regret it!
