Nope. But you're suggesting that he wouldn't be dead now if he'd run around yelling about how weak and ineffective he was.Kmarion wrote:

So you think Saddam was weak an ineffective? I was merely suggesting had he been more open it would have been much more difficult to have made a case for war against him.Bubbalo wrote:

Yes, because it was clearly so easy. What, with all of about 5 countries agreeing, despite many of them having great public dissapproval, and that's with all the lies and misinformation .
Hussein wasn't gunna pull his pants down in front of Iran. He couldn't. It's not rational for any government to put its weaknesses on the table. Would the US?
Maybe if we were being threatened by a country that had just kicked our ass a few years before.Reciprocity wrote:

That's a good point.Major_Spittle wrote:

The failure in Iraq stems from the Republicans being pressured by the Anti War crowd, blame America first crowd, international pressure, media coverage of ground operations, and people thinking that war must be fought in a way to protect innocense above all else.
Basically, we are all to blame. America never had the resolve needed to fight this war properly.
Soooooo,
Since Bush ultimately made the decisions (he was the decider), he gets all the credit for doing the right thing the wrong way.
They are all corrupt in Washington and put their own interests above America's interests. Bush has failed along with every other politician since Regan.
I hate to rehash old shit but I know Republicans want to move past it. Why are we there again? Yeah. But hey I'll take the blame. Whatever. nothing changes.
I think we should note that most - if not all - the 9/11 hijackers were Saudi. And their government ain't too stable. Why didn't we invade Saudi Arabia and Hang their royal family? This is still a "WAR" on terrorists, right? Why can't we carpet bomb entire cities that provide safe haven for terrorists?
The paradox is only a conflict between reality and your feeling what reality ought to be.

I never understood the logic in attacking an entire country because certain people were BORN there. ^^
You go after the governments that openly support terrorism. Not the ones that just so happened to have been their place of birth.
Edit:this is not to say the Saudi's aren't sketchy.

I doubt that hussein thought we would ever invade his little country. I dont think he percieved the US as a real threat until the bomb were falling. we had pussed out 12 years before, why would we invade now?
Iran was the threat to hussein then as it the threat to Iraq now.

Maybe because we had just marched into Afghanistan? Don't ya think some bells should have went off? Obviously our policy had changed after 9/11.Reciprocity wrote:

afghanistan was babysitting al-qaeda. Iraq was minding it's own business. It was hussein's mistake.
But Saddam Hussein was opposed to Al Qaeda.Kmarion wrote:

Indeed, but if you claim that the reason you invaded Iraq was to defend yourself, you have to show a link to attacks on the US. Saddam primarily concerned himself with Palestinian groups.
which is why we're currently engaged in a war with the Palestinians?Kmarion wrote:
