"its nice to see how many people think the same way I do"
That pretty much sums up the whole argument against Mencia. It's nice to have people agree with you, no matter on what side of the fence one sits.
Whether or not Mencia is funny is an opinion, nobody can ever change that. The crusades couldn't change opinions, Sept 11, 2001 didn't change opinions, NOTHING can change opinions except for the choice of the holder of the opinion. And clearly almost half of the opinions here claim that Mencia is funny as of the time of this writing. So if anything the original poster's opinion is abnormal, not necessarily wrong (since opinions aren't right or wrong, they just exist or don't), just not the majority.
The only thing that can be proven are the facts. You can argue plagiarism, difference of birth name, jealousy of other comedians, difference of style, perhaps racism, but NOT his being funny, that is up to each individual.
The ONLY way you could argue Mencia factually not being funny is to demonstrate how plagiarism makes a comedian not funny, or how a comedian named Ned can't be funny if he changes it to Carlos, or how partial German descent makes Mexican jokes not funny. Unfortunately for your argument you can never do this because people laugh at his jokes despite the facts, so people think he is funny. You may claim they are retarded for doing so, but you really think they are retarded for disagreeing with you. It all comes down to ego.
Give up your hatred and ego and start arguing the facts. Demonstrate how your facts are true and how they display your thesis.
No one is convinced that your facts make someone not funny, only some people agree with you by their OWN opinion that they THINK he is not funny. And separately they agree with your facts (which are unrelated, but possibly true).
FACT: Plagiarism is considered immoral in the U.S., but people still laugh if they find it funny.
OPINION: Mencia steals all his jokes, but FACT: people find them funny.
FACT: Many Hollywood names are different than their user's birth names, but people still laugh if they find the person funny.
POSSIBLE FACT: Mencia has some German ancestry, but people still find his jokes funny. (I say possible because I can't prove it at the moment)
MY OPINION: I thought Mencia's older stand up was funny, but I don't care too much for his show.
