Technically, according to the Bible, Jesus was the son of God, not God himself. He was born to a virgin mother in whom God planted the seed for the child to be born.
John 1:1, 14 - "In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God." "The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us. We have seen His glory, the glory of the One and Only. . ."

Which half of the world did he shape 2000 years ago? His influence certainly didn't reach India, Russia, China, most of Africa, or any civilization in the western hemisphere until several hundred years later. You can't seriously consider parts of the Middle East and eastern Europe as half the world.
