I'm thinking about writing a fictional story based on Battlefield. I've already done the groundwork in my Backstory (see sig link). The EA rep I emailed seems to think writing about 2142 is a better idea, but what would you guys rather read?

If you have writing talent, do something more worthwile than writing about a game.

i think that you should make a more comprehensive background story than the one you already have, and then write it from a soldiers point of view if possible. make it a bit like cod where you shift persons just make it over a longer time period.

Pulitzer Prize in the mail.
J/K lol. =P
BF2 for sure. The rep just told you 2142 because that sad, sick game needs all the positive attention it can get. Don't listen to him.

rofl read a book abut a game, well I am trying to reduce the time I play video games, So I doubt that I am gonna spend my time to think AGAIN abut the game and read a story, nah thats not gonna happen and I want to quit gaming... ONLY if I could!

OP:
Battlefield 2: contemporary fiction
Battlefield 2142: sci-fi
Battlefield 2142 has a bit of a juicier story. Even though I haven't played the retail version, I happen to agree with your EA rep there. Write according to your greatest interests and strengths.

Heres a idea, dont do it on a game, but I LOVE WWIII scenarios, why dont you do something like the USSR is reformed, or the PRC sets off a war, something like that. Thats would make it A-realistic and B-worth reading.
The reason Bf2 appeals is that theres such a large fanbase who might buy it. If I ever write a book it will be war anyway, so BF2 seems to be an easy option.
