Does this statement imply that liberal Americans support Hugo Chaves?

Absolutely!!! They see him as yet another person who thumbs his nose up at George Bush and the USA!!

Without question or reservation do I think the liberals in this country embrace this wack job!! Read that liberal rag the NY Times, and they are always praising his bravery in facing the current administration!

Hugo Chavez is a fucking asshole! Who day in and day out slowly cements himself as the next dictator of a third world country(Venezuela)!

I am a proud liberal and do not support Hugo Chaves. Consider yourself corrected.

I'm just curious. What newspaper would not be considered "liberal" by the conservatives?

This message would be a lot easier to see if  the post were not so blatantly conservative.

Charles Rangel doesn't support him either.

Just because Cindy Sheehan supports Chavez, it doesn't mean that all or even most liberals support him.  That's like saying that most conservatives support Pat Robertson.  Only the Religious Right like that guy, because the corporate conservatives are smart enough to loathe him.  Similarly, only the crazy liberals support Chavez, because the sane ones know the guy is a quasi-dictator that makes Bush look like a saint by comparison.

Thats a good question!!! Im not sure I know the answer to that one!! I want to say as far as NYC is concerned, the NYC Post is more conservative than the Times. . . .

I think most conservatives believe that most media outlets are slanted towards the left.  I mean if you watch our (USA) news, other than FOX, its pretty left leaning. . . . all the major USA networks have left leaning anchors.

Actually, what conservatives generally don't understand is that news is generally fairly un-biased, except for Fox News.  Anyone that reports to the "left" of Fox is considered leftist if your far-right view is centered on Fox (then how much further right can you go?).  Basically, since Fox came into being, the American political spectrum has slowly shifted VERY far right by most accounts.

Second, this "bias" thing is utter crap for another reason.  News reporters like to attack those in power, regardless of who it is, and attack them proportionally based on the percieved injustice.  Clinton got a blowjob, big scandal right?  Where were all those "left-leaning" news teams then to bury that story?  Guess what, the press smelled blood and went for it.  Same thing today except with the Republicans controlling everything, its a very target-rich environment.  Money, sexual deviancy, abuse of power, conflicts of interest, cheating and stealing votes, insane and illegal warfare, detention programs, and spy programs...you name it, these last few years were FULL of it and it makes Nixon look like a joke.

Lastly, yes, real reporters are liberal.  They have to be.  Basic psychology says that if you are left-leaning, you question authority...you don't CONFORM.  You don't toe the line to be a good reporter.  You challenge the system, you dig up dirt, you question everyone and everything.  Bad (conservative) reporters sit at thier desks and spew Rovian talking points and show pre-packaged propoganda clips made up by their political masters.  Therein lies the difference.

Now...back to the topic.
As a libertarian I would say that Chavez is a funny little man that is taking every smart opportunity he can to put some smackdown on his retarded neighbor up north.  I wouldn't compare him to Castro in the least, I would say by his actions he's setting himself up to be like Putin but on a much smaller scale...some sort of sarcastic thug that will fully know how to pull American strings.  The Bush administration did a LOT to empower little shits like him and have only themselves to blame.  So far, he's a harmless thorn in Bush's side, so more power to him...we could care less.

I don't know about "tollerance" as a virtue, but I need to develop a higher "tolerance" for fudged-up spelling.

And yet he was elected by a landslide in elections...

Can't understand why he's so bad if people vote for him.
