Regret my Username

well i know people have complaned about this before, but i regret my username that i chose [Derish]
i never took the time to think of a better name, a cooler name.
i think we should sign a petition and after 500-1000 signatures, we should send it to EA, recommending that players should be allowed to change there name only ONCE.

For Example: Say you chose the name CheesyKoolaid and you really hated it, you should be able to think about one that you would really like, and then change it. But only ONCE, because if people continued to change there names, that stat database would probably be ruined. All the name changes would probably screw sumthing up.

i know you guys are going to think this is stupid, but for the people who really regret their bf2 username they will probably enjoy making a petition.

the power of 1000 people should make EA change their minds about somethings.

Well what happens if the name you want to change it to is taken? or someone wants to chose the name you are giving up? there will pose some problems. I do not want to have add numbers and slashes and other junk to my name just so i can have a name.

If you name is taken, then i suggest you suck up and pick a different one. there are tons of other sweet ass username out there. second, if someone wants to choose the name you've given up, good for them. they will not get you stats, just your name. but you do have a point, it could get a bit confusing. like your friend that plays bf2 from china for example could know you as CheesyKoolaid, but then u change ur name, sumone takes your old one, and then he would start playing with sumone he doesnt even know. it would trick people and make everything confusing.

all i was suggesting is that people who do not like their names should be allowed to change it.

Changing your player name would do nothing to the Stats DB. Everything is done by your PID# whitch would not change. Chuy would know more about this becuase he know how the backend works.

I'm guessing your a noob when it comes to computer programming. Novalogic (maker of Black Hawk Down, Joint Operations, Delta Force Reloaded, Land Warrior, Etc...) allows their players to change their names about 5-6 times a month. Easy to do. Like EA, each player is assigned a unique ID that follows them around everywhere. That ID is linked to their name, so whenever it changes, everything is the same, just the name changes.

Long story short - It's very easy for them to impliment. Assuming they (EA) didn't overcomplicate things in the beginning!

Also, they should make you go through the world's longest, ugliest, and worst designed web form to change your name, so that way you won't have name changing on a Counter-Strike level...

Some fucker nicked my name and he doesn’t even play anymore. Now im stuck with "1" instead of an "i" on the end. I even met him on a server one day totally by chance, what are the odds??? I didn’t say anything though.

I guess I wouldnt change my name if I had the chance though since he has the only one id want.

I've had the issue of my specific name being taken in other things (like email), so I just add a 4 digit extension (for me always 0125) whenever my name is taken. As far as those of you who tagged for a clan, you were just stupid so I have no pity for you.

No it is all linked by Player ID, not the player name.

I have had this name since my days of playing multiplayer Doom and even more when playing Quake, which I think was before I was in highschool.

I get kicked from servers a lot because of "name violations" but I don't regret my name at all. I had to add a 1 at the end of my name because I probably tried to register an EA game a few years ago which was pirated and they may have banned that name forever. Oh well. Everyone calls me by CackNBallz instead of the 1 at the end, so it is no big deal.

Why was it stupid to create a name with a clan tag? When the game first came out that little clan tag field wasent there, so people were forced to include the tag in their name if they wanted others to know that they belonged to the clan. Now I've been with the same clan for years now, so I doubt it will cause a problem for me, but I could just imagin how annoing it would be to have to give up all your medals, unlocks, etc because you left your clan.
