Goodevening guys.

I am new at this forum, but I like it allready big_smile

I am playing BF2 for like 3 months know, and playing under the name MoV-Impreza. I control it pretty good, and trying to get more kils with chopper and plane at this moment.

My problem with BF2 is the following...I am running this system:

Asus A8N-E
Amd Athlon 64 3000+ @ 1800Mhz with AC Freezer64
2x1024 MDT DDR Pc3200/400Mhz @ Dual Channel
Asus Nvidia Geforce 6800 Ultra 256 DDR3 @ 450/1150
Tagan 480W
40 Gb Maxtor 7200 RPM
250 Gb Maxtor 7200 RPM SATA

Not pretty bad I think, but BF2 is not running that nice....I am playing at 1024/768, everything medium, and still my frames don't want to go above the 40/50...So on maps like Mashtuur City, Sharqi Pensinuala, Daqing Oilfields and some others, I have fps drops to 20....Not very nice...

I did the following...
Installed the newest Nvidia drivers
Deleted all files in my Cache folder of BF2
Installed it on the same HD as my Windows folder
Temps are OK...VGA doesnt get warmer then 55 degrees, and my CPU is 35 a stressed...

What else can I do...

I hope you guys can help me! I am really sick of it, that you pay almost 1000 euro's for a system, and then the games don't even play good at MEDIUM quality....

Thank you very much for your time!!

There's an opinion that since the 1.12 patch came out, assuming you have it installed, there were changes to some graphics rendering, which means it now uses a bit more in the way of resources.

The course of action I took since the update, and I used to have all mine set to 'high' with the resolution set to maximum, is to set some to medium and some to low and AA off, also reduce you resolution to the lowest point and tweak a little until you have the desired effect... have a look on here > http://www.tweakguides.com/BF2_1.html

Welcome to the forums

Why is your processor only showing 1800mhz... it should be at least 2.0Ghz.

1. Go to http://forums.bf2s.com/search.php

2. Search for 'lag'.

I have the same problems on High, so the problem aren't the graphical settings I think.....

These are mine background progs...

And why my cpu is clocked at 1.8 Ghz? I don't know....It was standard that way, and I don't really have the knowledge to overclock it, even though, it is a Venice, so it must me easy overclockable...

They don't look much more than what I have running...... seriously, try everything on low, reduce the resolution and go from there.... you can tweak up, it's not as if you're stuck at the bottom.. try a few tweaks, it might be worth it.

Your cpu reporting @ 1800mhz seems a bit on the low side that's all, I have the same processor and mine reports @ 2.02Ghz. I was just wondering if by some misfortune you'd lost a bit of power.

BTW since I have mine set to med/low and resolution to the lowest point... I don't have any lag problems or strange crashes....

> http://forums.bf2s.com/viewtopic.php?id=8997  It's a thread about laggy graphics.

There are two series of AMD 64 3000+ cpu's: a 1.8GHz that is on a 939 socket, and a 2.0GHz thats on a 754 socket.  The 939 is the superior performing cpu (64bit vs 128bit memory controller) which is why his 1.8GHz gets the same 3000+ performance rating as your 2.0GHz.  Also some versions of the 3000+ have 1MB L2 cache instead of 512K.  The S754 supports up to 9.6GB/sec bandwidth, whereas the S939 supports up to 14.4GB/sec bandwidth for the total Processor-to-System Bandwidth (HyperTransport plus memory bandwidth).  S754 is 1600MHz and the S939 is 2000MHz on the HyperTransport bus.

As for the problem with the laggy graphics, have you tried it single player to see if it lags?  You could be just getting on lousy servers, or have a poor internet connection?  It looks like your on ADSL tho, so your internet connection itself should be good.  Also try lowering your Anti-Aliasing settings, tho with your computer you should be able to run at 1024x768 on highest settings, even 1280x1024 should be no problem.  My system with a 6800Ultra runs BF2 at 1600x1200 at high settings with no lag at all, and yours should be as good.  You have 2GB RAM, which is good.  I find on certain SF maps tho, can't think of which ones, I do get some lag, it seems to be a common problem on those particular maps judging by other people's comments at the time.  Your process list you posted looks clean, it doesn't look like you have any malware running that could affect performance (and your running Spy Sweeper also which should help keep your system clean, tho you might want to exit it when you play games).

Have you thought about overclocking? You can safely turn your graphics card and your processor up and get a little more out of it. I have a  X2 4400, the same motherboard as you and a 6600GT and I run medium settings with 2x anti aliasing and 1280x1024 resolution. If you have your aa above 2x though that is your problem. I will help you oc if you want.

Cheers for the lesson

Seems strange that you both have ultra performing pcs and yet still have problems on some maps... My pc is deemed mid range with a nvidia 6600GT 128 ... and I have no problems with lag at all. So, where you expect it to run at 'high', have you ever thought, it just won't and that it may have to be tweaked. Expectation is one thing, reality is another
